There were two events that changed my life, and the world, forever. They themselves were ordinary, but their combined effects were devastating. If it wasn’t for me moving and gaining new ambition, and of course Mr. Schmitt’s coffee, the zombies would never have been.
The first event was that I moved to Strasburg. By the third day at my new school, I knew that my homeroom teacher, Mr. Schmitt was a coffee fanatic. His coffee mug was made of expensive porcelain and his tie was patterned in coffee beans. On this particular day he happened to rest his coffee mug on the heater. Inside the coffee, microbes were mutated by the heat into Solobum, the legendary zombie virus. That was the second event.
Right then, I dared another kid, John, to steal Mr. Schmitt’s coffee. Just as he was about to grab it, the mug exploded. John was scratched by a shard of porcelain infecting him with the solobum, while the coffee leaked into the heater, destroying it. The next day the fix-it man from Garsburg arrived. John, who had turned into a zombie the night before, suddenly bit Mr. Chelburg ,thefix-it man, and several students. Mr. Chelburg went home, but the bitten kids were quarantined. When they become unconscious, I remembered Mr. Chelburg and I found a new purpose in life: to stop the plague.
I discovered Mr. Chelburg had stopped to donate blood on the way home. While he zombified, bit people and got quarantined, I found the name of the recipient of the contaminated blood, a woman named Maria Tomas, and arrived at her house. Unfortunately I arrived just as she was awakening as a zombie. She ran right toward me, and I tried to escape, but she was too fast. Just as I thought my dear life was at its end, she spoke. “ Thou art my chosen master. Thy will is mine.”
Something about me made me their overlord. So I decided to use this to my advantage. First I freed the quarantined kids, who were now zombies, and used them to get revenge on all my old enemies, but that wasn’t enough. I decided I should take over the world. I was doing fine at first, but as their numbers grew, the zombies were harder to control. In the end, the zombies took over the world for themselves.
Everything has an effect and everything has a cause, but the whole chain is too chaotic to predict. If one small thing different had happened, the outcome would have been immensely different. Remember that the next time you have to make a difficult choice, or you (and the world) could pay dearly. Or just remember one word: Zombie!
