Lines are of infinite length. Segments have finite lengths and therefore can be measured. You know what a circle is: a set of all points that are equally distant from a specified center point. A chord is a line segment that crosses a circle at two points (i.e. goes through the circle). A diameter is the longest chord possible in a circle. A perpendicular bisector is a line (or segment) that goes through the midpoint of another line or segment and is perpendicular (at a right angle) to that same line or segment. Interestingly enough, the perpendicular bisector of any chord is always the diameter of the circle. This i all know. Its applying it all with the fractions that confuses me.

Then I looked over at my friend and he was "reproducing" with someone else in the class (a girl). So, what....he was.....performing mitosis or something?

Alright...
The diameter is of length D. The chord is of length 2D/3, which we will substitute for c.
Point A divides the chord into lengths of 5D/6 and D/6. How much of the chord is D/6? Well, since it is a fraction of the chord, D/6 will be equivalent to some factor of c, this unknown factor which we may call x.
d/6=cx d/6=2dx/3 (substitution) 3d/6=2dx (multiply both sides by 3) d/2=2dx (3d/6 simplifies into d/2) 1/4=x (divide both sides by 2d) d/6=c/4 (plug 1/4 in for x into original problem)
Therefore, one-sixth of the diameter is equivalent to one-fourth of the chord. It follows that five-sixths of the diameter is three-fourths of the chord. From that, it is known that point A is located on the chord in such a manner that it divides the chord into lengths of 1/4 and 3/4.
That means you are 1/4 of the chord length from one end of the chord. Or 3/4 of the chord length from the opposite end of the chord, however you like to look at it.
If that doesn't help explain the mathematical part of the dream, then I do not know what else to do and will therefore drop any other discussion of the dream. I don't want to flood the dream thread with too much math.
...and sorry to those who didn't want to review and/or be taught math while reading others' dreams.

The element in that dream was disappionting, and I think it was like soul or enemies and I think they took a lot of stuff out, and I might have found it disturbing for an unknown reason. Dreams....I hate them and love them. Did I dream today? I'm pretty sure a don't dream on somedays....

People here have wierd dreams. I mean, seriously. WTF.
I don't dream. I just think when I wake up.

I had a PG-forum related dream!
I was on rather late at night, and there was a new forum being made for a new game Ha55ii was making, Super Blob, or something of the like. Qwerty was there (now Chernobog), and I was talking to him. I can't recall what I said though. A little later, I was talking to him through a webcam, and... he had kids, like, running about. Slightly odd.
Oh, and another dream I had recently: I was just coming back from school, with my best friend and her sister, when we passed the Spar and were about to depart. Then, Chloe (best friend) said something about a solution for blackheads (bloody things, they are so difficult to get rid of) and told me I should go down to Sarah's farm. I didn't know who Sarah was, nor where she lived, so I asked for her whereabouts. Chloe just replied "You'll find her" and walked off. So now, I was to go and look for Sarah. [DREAM GAP] I am at Sarah's farm, and I seem to have come up on a road. It definately wasn't my village I was in now. Sarah said the the cure for blackheads was the jelly from sheep's bones (or something) and I could buy some if I wanted. I did. Then, there was an annoucement and I lined up with these other people. Then, we were, like, line dancing or something... ya...

So........dancing on a farm.......and camchatting.
Pretty realistic (so you didn't burst into flames or instert a a mathematical equation proven false into the initial structure of physics?)

...or instert a a mathematical equation proven false into the initial structure of physics? Gah! If you meant my dream excerpt, where is my math wrong? I must know!
Also, I once had this long, complicated, scholarly dream that involved my enrolling into a Journalism class that TheListo was already in. I introduced myself as General Veers and by my actual name, and he introduced himself as TheListo (that part unnecessary) and by his real name (which I didn't know before, during, or even after the dream*). Naturally, this was after I saw his photo avatar of himself, otherwise this dream of mine would never have happened... *Sometimes the unconscious has this uncanny way of satisfying curiosity without actually answering your questions. E.g., in a dream you want to know someone's name. The dream fills in with what may sound like a name, but when you are awake you realize it was just a blank that you were fooled into believing was a tangible name.
Has anyone had that happen before?

Usually in my dreams one of my desires comes true, and then I wake up feeling excited, two seconds pass, and I realize that it isn't real >.<

must.....refrain.....from saying......'that explains a lot'.......to SK and artik.......*twitch*
usually my dreams are just me thinking without much care, as if I'm bored, but also busy staring at something without thinking about anything clearly. That's why I cant remember anything and tell you

Ok, here is a more normal dream from me.
So, I was in a car one day, with my mom, dad, and brother. We stopped at this field in a school area, and there was this rock on the far side of it. I suddenly felt scared, and for some reason started running towards the rock. My brother started running after me, and was holding a knife in his hand. When I was close to the rock, I noticed there was a shot gun, that looked just like the ones in Halo 1, laying on top of it. I grabbed it, and noticing my brother was right behind me, swung it like a baseball bat at him. He caught it in his hand and took it from me. Then the ocean suddenly appeared beside the field, and I climbed down these rocks towards it to get away. Then I saw this huge whitle whale that looked like a goldfish, the snack, only well, bg and white. So I yelled, "Look at that whale!" And then it swam away. Then I went back up to the field and saw my parents and brother standing near the car, watching something. So I went over and asked what they were watching, and suddenly there was this huge sorm all around us. We were kinda up on a hill, so there were suddenly these huge waves all around us, and we jumped in the car. Then th biggest wave there came towering over us, and then I woke up. DUN DUN DUN.

I think the ocean symbolized your insanity. You tried to run from it, but then it devoured you.

When I was close to the rock, I noticed there was a shot gun, that looked just like the ones in Halo 1, laying on top of it. I grabbed it, and noticing my brother was right behind me, swung it like a baseball bat at him. Why there was an M90 8 Gauge Close Assault Weapon System (M90 CAWS) Laying against a random rock, why you presumed it was unloaded, and why you decided to use the butt of this fine weapon as a club remains a mystery to me. Mostly why it was lying against the rock, though. I actually had a bit of a mini dream last night. I came into my dining room, and looked at the desk, and my HP PC was turned around with all the cables pulled out of the back. Remembering correctly, it was slightly wider than it should be with more sockets of different shapes and varieties than there should be and for some reason it didn't seem to matter. For some reason i felt a blame against my mom for it so attempted to find the correct vables strewn about and attempting to put them into the correct sockets. I clearly couldn't find them all but had apparently found enough and so turned it around and the dream dissapates from there. My mom, on the other hand, told me that she was having some weird dream involving Air Raid Sirens or something, and she woke up at 3:30 AM to find the computer beeping. In reality what happned, i found out after wrestling the computer back into an operational state (i don't turn it off anymore), is that windows had, without my consent, put in an automatic security update which apparantley had required an automatic restart. right then and there. So at 3:30 AM my computer decides to restart itself, and my computer does not like turning on. So it turns off, and when it trys to turn back on it starts emitting PHEONIX BIOS Beep Codes (which i am having trouble interpreting). At three thirty AM. See, Macs can be left on constantly because of their basis - the programming they are based on was designed for servers which are typically never turned off. PCs have a different basis program that IS used to turrning off periodically. So treating it right while it constantly stays on is better than wrestling it on every time i Want or Need to use it. And its a good computer. Nothing logical that i can think of makes this happen. But then again, theres some logic that allows it to start when i give the damned thing a solid smack.

Has anyone ever had dreams where it seems as though you can actually feel things like pain? I've had dreams like that.
