America is FINALLY realizing I can pretty much toss out that statement right now. It doesn't matter what America realizes or thinks. The Republicans in Congress, not the American people, are the ones who are blocking the Democrats. The opinions of the American people do not reflect on the opinions of their selfish representatives. The Republicans have just been sucking up to their constituents (i.e. big businesses) for years. Sad but true.

The fact that The Congress is WAY out of touch with the values of the American people is very true. However, BOTH Republicans and Democrats are to blame.
Oh, and by the way, it's a good thing that the Democrats are being stopped from passing various pieces of legislation in Congress. Their current beliefs defy common sense.

Is it not common sense to stimulate the economy? Is it not common sense to make health care more affordable? Is it not common sense to tax the rich to help the poor?
I could go on and on.

It is NOT common sense to prevent companies to fail if they make poor decisions. It is NOT common sense to pass a massive over-ride of healthcare that will lead to "ration-care" and provide benefits to illegal immigrants. It is NOT common sense to distribute the wealth, therefore punishing those who succeed and earn money.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm actually with you on some of those things. I don't agree with the Democrats on everything. For example, I oppose bailouts and illegal immigrant amnesty.
But one thing that Republicans overreact about is the "distributing the wealth" thing. The Republicans blow it out of proportion. It's simply a little bit more taxes on the rich people, to help the poor people.
During the campaign, John McCain was talking to everyone when he said Obama wants to "spread your wealth". But the truth is, the vast majority of Americans don't make enough money to be subject to new taxes. The new taxes were only for people making over $250,000 a year.

Well ever since he went into office we got into 13 trillion dollar dept for a stimulus that never worked. So I don't like him. I also wish he would go on Fox News at least once.

Well, the reason the stimulus package didn't work is because everyone was talking about it for months. It wasn't a surprise.
See, when you inject money into the economy, naturally you're going to cause inflation. The reason stimulus packages work is because it comes so suddenly, and people's wages go up. This gives people more buying power, creating more demand, which results in companies raising prices to compensate.
The key to this is realizing the concepts of nominal income and real income. Nominal income is the amount of income one makes in units of currency (i.e. dollars). Real income is the amount of goods people can buy with their nominal income.
There is a short period of time between when the stimulus takes effect, and when the prices are raised, that consumers have more real income, because nominal wages have increased, but nominal prices have not, which results in more real buying power. It takes a while for companies to adjust their prices, because they didn't see it coming. When they do, your real income (and real buying power) goes more or less back to what it was before. It is this precious short time period, where people are able to buy more, that hopefully stimulates the economy.
But suppose the government has been talking about a stimulus package for months, like the new administration did. They just blurted it out to everybody. This gives companies time to prepare for it, and immediately after the stimulus comes, they raise their prices. This is pretty much what happened with our stimulus package. As a result, there was virtually no time period in which people were able to buy more.
The only thing the stimulus was able to accomplish was give unemployed people low-paying jobs building projects like roads and such. And even then, I see things on the news all the time about towns not getting enough stimulus money to even complete their projects.
Sometimes government secrecy is a good thing.
All of this is explained in detail in Economics For Dummies.

I'd read the book, but it sounds quite bias...like pretty much any form of media in today's society.

How could it possibly be biased? It's just factual information.
I'm so glad I read that book. It made me understand this so much better and enabled me to debate these kind of things.

You know what book I'm planning to read in the near future? It's called "Arguing With Idiots" by Glenn Beck.
Something tells me it might just come in handy...

TSL, everything is biased, its just how much that differs. Obviously the writer has his own opinion, and even if (s)he tries not to include it, i can almost guarantee it will be in there.

This is all I have to say:
Obama is (essentially) a communist that wants to raise taxes, take away our money, and destroy our freedom of going to what doctor we want and buying insurance we want. Not only is he completely incompetent at running a country, he's giving away billions of dollars while at the same time trying to borrow billions more from countries we already owe a s***load of money to. He stopped giving water to a huge area in California to save a species of TINY FISH and he says nothing about the recent terror threats in Dallas (my home), Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia. To add to that, every child in America will be paying for the stupid mistakes he has made for the rest of our lives.
One Big Ass Mistake America

Obama is (essentially) a communist that wants to raise taxes He only wants to raise taxes on the rich ($250,000+/year). and destroy our freedom of going to what doctor we want and buying insurance we want. No, the Republicans are just using their classic scare tactics by fabricating those complete lies. Obama's plan would allow you keep your own doctor, and government would not be involved at all. All the plan will do is make it more affordable. I don't know this for sure, but I would imagine it would be paid for in part by the aforementioned raised taxes. he's giving away billions of dollars while at the same time trying to borrow billions more from countries we already owe a s***load of money to. I have to agree with you there.

Throughout his campaign, Obama stated that his motives and morals were heavily impacted by the people he surrounds himself with. The fact is, the majority of Obama's advisers and czars are self-proclaimed Marxists and socialists. Therefore, given what Obama said, he must identify with Marxist and socialist morals.
Secondly, Obama's idealogy regarding healthcare WILL end up severely limiting our individual freedom to choose what doctors and insurance providers we want. The government is going to start penalizing those people who don't comply with Obama-care (and this is FACT, not just my opinion).

Obama's idealogy regarding healthcare WILL end up severely limiting our individual freedom to choose what doctors and insurance providers we want. The government is going to start penalizing those people who don't comply with Obama-care (and this is FACT, not just my opinion). Yes, and might I add that people will be sent to prison if they don't buy ObamaCare, regardless of whether or not they can afford it?! I think he's done some good, some bad. What many people don't understand is that being president isn't "Oh, everyone wants this so lets do it lol", there's a lot of decision making and planning going on. I think Obama needs to realize that, not the American people. Is it not common sense to stimulate the economy? Is it not common sense to make health care more affordable? Is it not common sense to tax the rich to help the poor? I could go on and on. It CAN be reasonable, in some cases. But the way Obama is going on about doing those things is ridiculous- everything he has tried to do to "help" America has turned out as a total disaster! My gosh, I couldn't have said it more perfectly. I know that Obama didn't cause the recession. However, I truly believe that his actions prolonged and worsened the recession. Agreed- the "bailout" just made the hole we're stuck in now five times deeper. When a nation institutes a NHS, some way or another coverage ends up being rationed and/or limited. It happened in Nazi Germany, it's happening in several European countries, and it will happen in the US if the Congress' healthcare reform is passed. Yes, and doesn't anybody wonder why the democrats gave everyone only two days to read the healthcare bill? It's because they knew that if everyone did read it, they would realize it's a load of crap! Obama and his cronies are lying in basically every way possible so that they can get this bill through and take more money away from the American people! To be president of the United States, you need to be a leader. Someone the people can count on, someone that can lead the most powerful nation in the world, someone that's actually qualified, someone that would make the founding fathers proud, someone that would go out of his way to help the american people because its his job to do that and protect us. Instead we got some socialist, lying, tax raising, communist pansy that got a nobel peace prize for nothing, cut off water to part of california to save fish, and tried to bring the olympics to his home town.
