7 inputs is a lot. At least compared to standard electrical num pads, which need only one input per number, and some laser-C-4 ones.

Artanis pretty nice numeric display, but it could be Little smaller. My 5x3 dot that could use as numeric display is 33% smaller hight and width. Lets see... 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 - ten numbers? Or did i make a mistake? No mistake, and each one only requires one laser or electric input. In the other one you would need to start off with at least 1 input, then split the beam into several. You would need 10 of these splitters.

its when you must shoot laser in one place to store memory and only once you have memory it will work to shoot in another place to let the beam through...
and then you have a rewrite function to erase all memory...

If I'm thinking of the same c-4 displays, they work by establishing paths for each digit that knocks out the unneeded segments. That's actually 10 inputs, but you only use one at a time. For mine, each segment has an 'address' and each possible symbol is actually assigned a unique binary representation: the segments that must be on or off to display a given symbol. (note: not a real binary translation of the digit, if you work in binary, you'll be translating from real binary into these representations. A graphics driver, if you will.) Some of the useful one symbols: 0000000 null 1111011 zero 0001010 one 0110111 two 0011111 three 1001110 four 1011101 five 1111101 six 0001011 seven 1111111 eight 1001111 nine I was not kidding when I said they have a high overhead. Complex structures consume space. okay... can someone post a Screenie of it... I wanna see... No problem. Just eight, though. Not gonna do every number again. I second requesting a bigger screen. Or a layer system.
