Unfortunately, most spam-bots never use the same IP twice. Correction, spambots are DESIGNED to avoid using the same IP's. That's why they call it a botnet.

Alright... I sure do wish I could send Blizzard Force (General Veers's squadron of elite AT-ATs at Hoth Echo Base) to eliminate all bots! I took care of three or so already in the glitches thread in Powder Game board. I just remembered! That bot used the same IP several times. So unless that bot was a human being personally navigating to the forums...

Bots are known across the internet, so I don't see why we're overreacting. Just delete them and hope it doesn't turn into another 2006.

We're trying to prevent Bot 2006...
We were considering disabling guest posting...

Bot 2006 wasn't a guest. Disabling it won't make a difference during botaggedon

I was referring to a time period, not a guest...

unlikely... we are just one forum among many... Ahh... and it is an improvement that can benefit many forums.

we could disable guest posting for a month and the bot might leave

The bot can't 'leave'
guest posting should remain open UNTIL 2006 again or something

I remember 2006... it happened on every forum.
I've seen several, the broken remnants of forums that once existed...

The saddest thing I ever saw was the dead forums.
Not really, but it's pretty sad to see entire communities 'wiped out'
