It's better to have no guest posting. More members, no forum impersonations, NO SPAMBOTS, no noobs appearing and "OLOLOLOP"ing the average IQ down by 2 points. Plus there shall be consequences for stupid actions!

Unless non-staff can see their IPs, staff can see anyone's IP adresses no matter what.

I think there is a code that can block all people from a certain timezone. Cruel and unfair, I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures...

I think there is a code that can block all people from a certain timezone. Cruel and unfair, I know, but desperate times call for desperate measures... That proposal would be equivalent to Anti-Immigration laws, or if you permit me to use a false analogy, an internet Holocaust: you take away the rights of entire regions just because one or two bots from that region decide to spam our forums. Guest posting disability would be better...people can just make accounts (if I made an account, then surely others can, too...) and we can just ban-AT-AT bots that act as accounts.

Exactly!
But, the thing is, guest posting disability won't stop them. Nor will IP bans. Requiring all accounts to be approved by an admin may work, though, combined with no guest posting.
And I agree, I would hate to ban people from a timezone. That would be awful...

Well, the USA has 5 time zones, the UK has one. Hopefully the spambots are from alaska or somewhere else sucluded.... I has a plan to get rid of the spambots! If the spambots post as members then can't you edit their accounts and change their timezone to somehwere in the world where no-one lives like Greenland and then ban from that timezone?

It hasn't been a month... So this aint a bump.
It'd be more effective if you just installed a capatcha (however it's spelt) for guests to fill out before they post.
