Any other ideas for badges?

'Teachers Pet' for people who have never broken rules? 1. Noone would get it and 2. All badges must be a fair shot for everyone (staff badges excepted), and this would instantly exclude those who have broken rules, and instantly exclude anyone who breaks a rule.

Ahem...
I have never broken any rules, nor would that be "unfair": everyone has a fair shot at it, it's just that everyone is extremely unlikely to take upon themselves the burden of compliance.
Aside from the name (firstly, it is missing an apostrophe; secondly, it does not seem appropriate enough considering that there aren't any stereotypical teachers present), the badge would actually be a good idea.
For all we know, it will actually discourage noobish behavior...

Sounds good, but the name should be changed. Rule-follower?

This badge sounds like a good idea at first, but you see, it would work differently from other badges. Everyone would start out with the badge, and have it removed if they spoil their record. Badges should work the other way around, where you start without them and have them awarded to you.

In that case, you would have to maintain its expectations for a specific period of time, such as six months or something along those lines...

Ok, that's a good idea.
But then again, I don't think people should receive an incentive like this to follow the rules. I mean, we should expect people to follow the rules on their own, without getting a reward for it. Rule-abiding members should be the norm, not the exception.
It would be like rewarding someone because they're mediocre. I mean, think about it. In real life, people don't get rewarded for not breaking the law. They just don't get punished, that's all. We should only reward those who go above and beyond, don't you think?

I agree. I think badges should be for doing things special, things that not all members are supposed to do anyway.

Ah, I almost forgot about that. That's why the warningless badge would be no good: that is expected, not exemplary...

Good point. No need to reward people for mediocrity.
We may as well take away the active badge, the early bird badge, the night owl badge, and a few other badges that either don't show achievement and are given for mediocrity.

We may as well take away the active badge, the early bird badge, the night owl badge, and a few other badges that either don't show achievement and are given for mediocrity. I think the Early Bird and Night Owl badge should stay. Not a lot of people post very early or very late, so it's not really a common, mediocre thing. As for the Active badge, it's very important to understand that activity is relative. Right now, people who are more active than the rest of the forum get the badge. But if all 700-something members suddenly became as active as the most active members, then the badge wouldn't be taken away, but we would have to raise our standards. People would have to be even more active, relative to the rest of the forum, to get the badge. So the Active badge can never be a mediocre thing. In fact, no badge will ever become a mediocre achievement, if we set our standards correctly. That basic rule goes for all badges.

That was sarcastic... it was showing which badges are either gained by luck, or gained by doing what is expected anyway.

Hmmm, i think the best badges are those that are achieved by things not many people would do anyway. Not alot of people go on at midnight if they dont want the night owl badge. Or the badges that actually are hard to get, or take skill, like the story, artsy, haxor, winner, etc.. The badges that a lot of people get easily aren't as cool in my opinion.

The post does have a point, though. Thank you. The badges that a lot of people get easily aren't as cool in my opinion. Which explains why the easy badges don't look as cool as the hard ones.
