ooh i have a math one! a=b 2a=2b 2a-2b=2a-2b 2a-2b=2a-(bxb) 2a-2b=2a-(axb) 2a-2b=2a-ab (a+b)(a-b)=a(a-b) a+b=a a+a=a 2a=a 2=1 Just fixing one small bit, and one thing that annoys me. Personally, I think numbers precede letters. Otherwise I begin thinking "Is he talking chemicals?" |

no it was supposed to be exponents. They worked on word but turned to 2's on this forum

here check it for yourself it works:
a=b
a=a
a2=a2
a2-b2=a2-b2
a2-b2=a2-(b x b)
a2-b2=a2-(a x b)
a2-b2=a2-ab
(a-b) x (a+b)=a x (a-b)
a+b=a
a+a=a
2a=a
2=1
There's a little thing in there that makes it not true.
Can you find it?

Yes, a can't equal b if a equals a, so for a to equal b, b would have to be a, or a would have to be b, oh whatever I'm really confused -.-

Fine i'll tell. If a=b then
a-b=0 right? ( just like 1-1=0)
so in the part where i factor out (a-b), i would be dividing by zero, which means the answer would be inconclusive, since dividing by 0 is undefined.
This was a problem in our algebra books back in 6th grade. It was only two years ago so i still remember.
