First of all, I'll make it clear that in the northern hemisphere it is in fact the summer. Second, that robots thing with the people in it; lol nvm. Third, making this the tournament would be an insult to al l the work that Vacon has been doing (whatever that is) on making some sort of Dan-Ball multiplayer game. Fourth, I am saying that almost everybody I know, including me, will be away for a significant portion of the summer. Fifth, -.- its stupid -.- Sixth, I am saying that it would be hard to set up games, say, between you and JakeBob where he lives in Wales and you live in California. There is an 8 hour time difference between those locations, and if we are to have a somewhat fair and random pool then this will cause issues. 6:00 PM in San Francisco is the same as 2:00 AM in London. (Source: World Clock) Also you have not included the second part of my message. I found out multiple hacks for the game simply by going to the first link that was not the game itself on Google search. Now to M4, that arguement is ridiculous. Unless you postpone the tournament until Autumn for all of us to level up, nobody will be at the maximum level. Common complaints of experienced players (from that same post, and others) are that it takes many long and tedious games to level up, and that you have to devote way too much time. Finally, this game is hackable by Cheat Engine. CHEAT ENGINE, people! Something as simple as that can give a player a permanent flow of cash or the opportunity to put extra turrets on their asteroid. There are even multiple hacks and glitches not even related to Cheat Engine that only require a few manipulations of the game. I would back this only if it were to be played in the Fall.

The reason this isn't in stick ranger is that a lot of people here don't play stick ranger. Those people would be at a HUGE disadvantage. At least this game is new to the forums, and we all start out even.
As for timezones, we simply arrange the games around those.
I agree there are lots of hacks for it, though. Thing is, we can tell that there were hacks in a certain game. That would be why we have a ref.
Why the heck are you going all hating on me all of a sudden? I only posted an announcement Listo told me to post. If you wanna complain, don't do it to me.

It looks like I'm gonna have to-- Break it down!(mc hammer lol) I wish I could make this shorter, but... First of all, If there's one thing you're going to complain about don't let it be time. The fact that is is summer should be an advantage, since people in the southern hemisphere(where it's winter) have a whole 7-8 hour period in their day cut off due to school. That's 35-40 hours a week plus homework. 420-480 hours per 12 weeks, which is about 3 months not including homework, which would probably make it a good 20 days. Second of all, I Don't understand how this would be an insult to vacon. Thirdly, I'm sorry you don't like this game, but there are many people who do. I suggest waiting until the next tournament. Fourthly, about the time differences. Noon in San Francisco will be 9:00 pm in Wales. Even if the time differences were a whole 12 hours, you could have one person wake up at 10 am and the other person stay awake until 10 pm, not a problem. Fifthly, about the hacks, that's why there will be a third player to judge, so if someone hacks, we'll know. Fourth, I am saying that almost everybody I know, including me, will be away for a significant portion of the summer. Read 1st thing I said. First of all, don't worry, the fights are going to be evenly matched.(both of you will be the same level) Second of all, the goal isn't to be at the highest level, it's to beat all the other players here on odbf. Thirdly, yes, it does take time to level up, but again, the goal is to beat the other players here, not level up, so the only thing that matters is how much experience you have. The people who put more time into this will have more experience, increasing their chances of winning. Finally, this game is hackable by Cheat Engine. CHEAT ENGINE, people! Again, that's why there's going to be a third player to judge. _____________________________________________________________ I hope this has cleared things up.

See, this is why I resigned, because some people can manage to make a mess of the simplest things and the staff have to clean it up.

Dbsndust, the ODBFT is a forum made to create an mmorpg. It is a game we are designing not playing.
We should make a new thread, and lock it for the actual tournament scoring thingy. First though, we need to figure out who all is in.

I can't say when we should have the tournament... Because I'll leave for Mexico in early July, which I think is too early to start it. I'll be back at late July or early August... which might be too late.
I think to figure out who will be in we should just have people sign up on a thread for it until a deadline then organize the matches.

Yeah, probably. That system seems like it would work. Remember to enter your timezone for great justice for planning purposes.

Ok, im not hating you qwerty. I'm hating the planning for this. At least can we put the tournament in September? That's all I request.
Now also, I don't get what you're saying about the experience. There are substantial differences between a good player at a low level and a bad player at a high level. The higher level player has stronger and a greater variety of weapons. Even if he does nothing but throw his shots at the other guy, eventually one of them will be a hit on the top of his asteroid and he'll lose. I'm not arguing for Stick Ranger. That sounds like a dumb idea. But what I'm saying is that it takes many plays to level up, and when you do you unlock many more features. It would be hard to have a tournament which matches up all different people of different experience levels. Play the game a few times and you'll find out. It's time consuming.
Simply putting any such tournament in September would end my arguements and solve our problems.

I'll see if I can ask Listo about it. In reality, to win, you just need to get up to, say, the rank below planetary defense counselor.

That's the point of the tournament. Match up people of different experience levels to try to find the guy who has the most experience(the guy who wins).
