You can't really tell if they used GIMP or not...
Anyway, why not just let them do that, but not score them well if they do?

You can't tell if they used gimp or not. You'd have to hope that they'd be honest enough to admit something that would hurt their standing in the contest.

You actually can tell if they used GIMP or not, most of the time at least. If you have random pixels of a similar color scattered about in a color, that's almost always going to mean they used gimp, nobody is going to scatter them randomly. Although, some people do place them next to each other, and sort of scattered about, just that it's usually more controlled, and not randomly placed. It's easier to tell when they're doing it purposefully. I'm not saying all GIMPed things have that, there are some that dont. Also, when something is GIMPed, it's usually of something that's pretty obviously a picture. You can just as easily make it in GIMP or any other program, that's an editing program, doing real pixel art and then GIMPing it, or whatever. Sorry for that being a little off topic, it's just the way I see it.
In my opinion, they shouldn't be allowed, more people need to get used to doing things freehand, using GIMP to recreate a picture using only some colors, and then uploading that isn't pixel art. Real pixel art is freehand, or going over a surface of something else without any special effects to help you, and not using any blur tools either.
I think this is a cool idea, I just am having a hard time thinking of what I can make, if I do end up entering it if it all goes through.

Thanks, Priok. Once we figure out how to deal exactly with the possible GIMP-users, we should also make the rest of the scoring system. I am also entering i this contest.

It'll probably be standard prizes, with 1000 DB top prize. If approved. Which it may or may not be.

You wouldn't have to post the picture or upload the creation: instead, you would use the Get/Set code from whatever you create in Powder Game and paste that code in a post surrounded with

tags.
