This may not belong in this board, but I must say that the Wii one of the worst if not the worst console ever. Discuss other consoles.
My opinion on the Wii:
THE WII IS AN EXCUSE FOR FAT, LAZY PEOPLE TO GET OFF THEIR LAZY ASSES AND BLOW OFF THEIR DAMN WELFARE MONEY ON A SYSTEM THAT CLAIMS THAT YOU GET "EXCERSIZE" FROM IT WHEN REALLY YOU'RE JUST WASTING YOUR MONEY, ELECTRICITY, AND TIME! /rant

-sneep- "Everyone who plays games wins"-Artik, it's about what they like and not what other people like for them. Also don't use failtags, we use /rant after it not [rant] ~~~ [/rant]
It looks funny

Mmk, lol.
I agree. Xbox and the PS3 is ok (Xbox is a little better), and PC owns.

SAZA YOU SHOULD BUT QUOTES AROUND THAT. LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!
Anyways I prefer PC cuz my first game was on PC (RTS game) and I've loved RTSes ever since, and PC. Although I wish there were more Japanese RPGs.

I think that, because this is based more on pure opinion than opinion that can be backed with a variety of factual sources, this belongs either in the Technology or General Chat sub-boards, or maybe just somewhere in the General Talk board.
Do personal computers count as consoles? If so, I think I will declare it my favorite, and probably the best from my perspective, on account of its full functionality. If not, then I will say that someone's recent acquisition of an XBox 360 Elite (not my acquisition) has opened my eyes to the alternative wonders of Microsoft Corporation...

PC is the best, because while other consoles are getting "Facebook" and "Twitter" the PC already has that! It already has everything the Xbox and PS3 have, except for exclusive games, which is probably the only reason I buy consoles today. The Xbox mostly has games that the PC has, like first person shooters (here I would like to note is that first person shooters are supposed to be played on the PC) I like the Playstation series because it seems to favour RPGs (especially Japanese ones), which the PC lacks. But just because I think the PC is better, doesn't mean I should let people stop having fun with their consoles. That quote Saza stole from me is "Everyone who plays games wins", and it really is true. I don't attack my friend for having a PS3, or Wii, because why do that when they're perfectly happy? If they want something better, they'll find it on the own, people shouldn't force them. Anyways, Microsoft has done many things that have extremely annoyed me..

Not only that, but things aren't just the same if you can't use Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Firefox (forgive me, Microsoft), Windows Media Player, Paint.net, and Java. To the extent of my knowledge, very few consoles are capable of full World Wide Web access and music reading. To the extent of my knowledge, no consoles are capable of word processing, spreadsheet number crunching, or Java programming...
The personal computer is the best, but so long as one has fun without infringing upon others rights, it shouldn't matter what someone uses to play games...

The personal computer is the best, but so long as one has fun without infringing upon others rights, it shouldn't matter what someone uses to play games... The consoles are mostly successful because of the advertising they perform, their appeal to kids, and exclusive games (such as Halo). PCs are a lot more complicated then consoles, which can be frustrating at times, and confusing to people who don't know much about a computer. For example, if a kid plays a game, and it lags, chances are that that kid won't know what a graphics card is, or much about RAM. Therefore he turns to the console, which is easier, but not as powerful. And that is another thing that makes PCs differ, they're more powerful. An Xbox 360 and PS3 have 256MB of RAM. While a average PC has about 7 times that amount. Consoles can never get the highest graphics of a next-gen game. While it may be high, it's never the highest. Oblivion, for example, on the Xbox 360, starts to lag when I'm around level 20, and sometimes even freezes the game. Now I'll just sum it up: PC Pluses: - More powerful (better graphics and RAM..)
- More features (addons, useful software..)
PC Cons: - More expensive
- Confusing at times
Console Pluses: - Easy to handle
- Less expensive
Console Cons: - Not very powerful at all
- Cannot get the full satisfaction of a game
Anything I'm missing?

Nothing I can see. Anybody have opinions on "Mac Gaming"? I have been told that it sucks and has horrible performance, but I use the Mac I am typing this on right now for several games including Modern Warfare and (until a while ago) BF2142, and they both are great.

I do not count PC as a console.
And do you realise that most recent consoles (Xbox 360, PS3) are more powerful than most PCs?

Alright, I'm going to straighten this thread out. First of all, the PC is not a console. It is a gaming platform, yes, but not a console. Second of all, @bsp, the Wii itself is fine, except for lack of power. The problem is that very few companies take the time and/or effort to make fun games for it. It is still better than all last-gen consoles, hardware-wise. Thirdly, the PS3 is the most powerful of the bunch, but due to it's unique structure it is difficult to work with for third-parties unless your game is exclusive to the PS3. Now, moving into online value, Xbox Live has the best communications and store. It supports parties, private chats, and messaging, while PS3 only supports messaging. PS3, however, is completely free, and you can also change your name for free (a feat that costs roughly $10 on XBL). The Wii has extremely poor online functionality, with large and clumsy friend codes, no voice chat whatsoever, and a sort of emailing system. Controller-wise, all 3 consoles work fine for their purpose. The wii remote seems limited at a glance, but is versatile and can be rotated sideways for a more comfortable use in games like platformers and fighting games. Customization, the PS3 definitely wins, allowing complete redecoration of the menu. Xbox has themes that change the background and some colors, and the Wii has no customization options at all. In conclusion, they all have strengths and weaknesses and "The Best" cannot be determined by hard statistics, but by personal preference. /textwall
