I am doing a virus scan and thought I will make a guide.
The help board said: "Confused as to what to do in Stick Ranger? Was the Dan-Ball Wiki unhelpful? Look for answers here! If you can't find one, ask a question here." so I can only guess that guides should be here.
Note that this is still being worked on and I will make it pretty later on. I am told by many that my grammar is lacking and my way of typing is odd. I blame the cheap schools. Feel free to post and tell me any errors that I may have made. I am aware of my weakness and I can only improve with time and if I am told of my mistakes.
This will be made for all players. Newbies up to wiki pros.
If you ever been in VS mode you will notice that poison and speed or the lack of by freezing are the best way to fight. Going pure str is often the worst mistake you could make as magic is often love by all. Whipper is a odd class which you may not want to max the magic of but more about that later.
This guide will be updated as the game grows and will never talk about making a better team in VS mode as they always find a better "perfect" group.
You can move the characters around while creating a new game or choosing your classes. Just a fun fact. Anyway if you are a newbie then choose at least one range class and stay away from priest and the gunner for now. You may choose the whipper if you want but he is also kinda special but like I said above, more about him later.
Range classes: Sniper, Magician, Gunner*
Melee classes: Boxer, Gladiator, Whipper**
Support classes: Priest***
*The bullets cost money when not using the first gun and many of the guns are short range and have special bullets so even if it is mostly a range class, it really depending on the gun.
**Not recommend for a newbie but unlike the gunner or priest you could be able to use one with no problem even as a newbie.
***A few may call it a range class but they was not really made to attack and if a monster is overhead, they will act retarded and just walk under it until they die. They can't attack 180 degree of them so I don't count them as a range class.
Japanese read backwards and you may want to also. In every stage, whoever is the right will be the first one to attack and take damage in most cases. This is true in VS mode also. This is not really a big deal but that 1 LP could be the winning point in Vs mode or even in the main game.
Ok so you made a group. Just to let you know before you get started, this is not Maplestory...What you see at level 5 is basically the same at lv40 but with better weapons. You are unable to change your class so if you hate your group around level 20 then quit wasting your time and try something else. A pure group of magician or snipers can go though the game easily but I recommend to try all of the classes at least once and get how the higher level weapons are. Just to let you know, the priest have the hardest start of the game which is the reason why I recommend you not to get one if you are a newbie. If you got one anyway then don't treat it as a fighter...Hell until you get the good staffs you may be better off turning the walking off.
So you got your class but now you need to set up your SP. Please note that this is more important then the class itself. You can never reset your stats.
Never put SP into life unless you know what you are doing or going for a pure life boxer (wiki pro thing). You will get a few points of life automatically and depending on your class your group life may not be even.
Please note that poison, freeze and slow do not stack on top of each other but most classes have a fire, thunder or a physical attack which all will stack. So freeze and poison is a bad combo but freeze with fire is perfect as fire do massive damage to non-moving characters.
Sniper: could do pretty well pure dex but you want to give him mag as the poison arrows are godly. Str increase range which honestly is not needed. If you need the range then hunt for the card later.
ATM: 25 mag and rest on dex will make a great poison sniper.
Magician: Once again don't really need range so str is not needed. Unlike most classes the mage don't need mag for weapons but use it to increase attack. Dex increase speed which is important in VS mode.
ATM: Big Icicle freezing ability can easily kill anyone in VS mode not because it is powerful but because it freeze the other team. So speed is more wanted then power as you could keep them in the useless state until they are dead. So 30 dex (a good number as all orbs are about the same when it come to speed) and the rest on mag would be a good idea. Rest on str may make a good team but cards could always help on range without using SP
Gunner: Dex is speed so that what you want to aim for as str don't really increase that much. Unlike other classes MP is the cost of $ so is not needed and honestly unwanted in VS mode. Sadly to live on the game happily you need to reduce as much money as you can. The lowest you can go is $1 so the MP of the gun - 1 is your number.
ATM: 39 mag only if you want the 4th tier weapon to cost only $1. Agi is odd with the gunner and I honestly don't know how you would do the math, if only there was a chart...Anyway I would go rest on str and play it safe with cards to reduce agi.
(I may play around with my TI-83 later on this.)
Boxer: A pure str boxer could do good with a glove that don't require mag but as I said above magic is godly. Speed is everything in VS mode and because boxers have to be so close to monsters, it sometime better to spread that 100 damage to 5 different monsters and not just a single one. So mag then dex then str but honestly this is one of the most newbie friendly class as you can only mess up by putting too much mag.
ATM: Why freeze or poison when they already up to your face? Note that this guide is written by a human being who thinks, so I could be wrong but IMO Choosing the freeze glove is stupid when a ranger could do a better job. Just because it a 4th tier weapon don't mean it is better but because of the FP which is helpful in VS mode I will be going by it. 30 mag, 10 dex and rest on str would be good for both poison and freeze knuckle but I would choose freeze for the FP. Please remember that poison, freeze and cold don't stack so it may be wise to give the effect weapon to someone else.
Gladiator: A good class. Use magical weapons while keeping dex and str even or just go pure str. Dex should never be higher then str as you would be wasting SP. Str is max damage while dex is min damage.
ATM: I would choose fire or thunder but because of FP and the same reason as the boxer, I going for the Long Sabel. Please note you most likely already have someone with the effect weapon so this would not be the dumbest choice you could make. Even dex and str or go pure str to quickly kill any frozen character.
Whipper: If it is above 50 mag then forget about maxing it out. Dex effect bullet amount so what it could take to get one more swing in, you could have 5 more bullets. Str should not be used as dex is much more helpful.
ATM: I would recommend making your mag half or even 1/4th of the whip MP. As Stone Chain is the highest FP and pretty good. 40 mag is something you could get but 20 mag may be the wiser choice and of course the rest on dex.
Priest: Str increase the priest and others that are near str while dex increase def which can block all but 1 damage as long the damage is not magical. The aura have the same range as the priest attack and the aura and attack range can both be increased by mag. Mag is really useless as you can use the priest as shields and have the attacker behind of them in VS mode. I would not mess with mag.
ATM: Could go pure str but I recommend even dex with str. In VS mode where you may use more then one priest, I recommend making one pure dex while the other is pure str or if you have three just even all of them out or go with a godly shield or godly attack. Priest can effect so much that honestly they are the hardest choices you could make. Once again mag is not needed, all staff magical attacks are automatically usable.
Now that I am finally done talking about that you can start playing. Making a good team in VS mode is one of the funnest part of the game so honestly you should think more about leveling and class management then grinding.
The town have books, helpful when hunting for items but if you are allow on this forum then I believe you are also old enough to look at this: danball.wikia.com/wiki/Stick_Ranger
So forget about the book until you are at a point where you don't need money. 528k is needed for all of the book not counting any money that you may need for gunners.
I would not use revive at all when the inn heal and recover at a cheaper price. Even better, just kill yourself and get the game over screen. click the screen and load. Unless you have cookies disable you should have everyone up and standing with 1 LP. Just go to opening street. Later in the game where the first 6 stages can't even fully recover two of your rangers, it may be faster to use the inn and just kill for a diamond to get your cash back.
Ok now opening street is a great training ground for healing alone. Do the first 6 stages until you feel that you are ready. Then once you earn a triple shot (if you have a sniper) then you could easily kill the boss. You may want to keep training here and earn yourself some cash and 4 iron medal 1 by the boss.
Selling compo items is a wise choice but if your team is weak then don't save them. You can not remove compo items but you can replace them and destroy the last one that was on.
~Taking a break, more will be added later~
Until I get back at this, enjoy this cute picture of a red panda.
