Thanks to Qwerty for fulfilling my request for a board!
I created this board as a center for everything I am interested in. I will make Visual Basic tutorials for all to enjoy. We can discuss the inner workings of computers. I may make a book list of great reads I enjoy. Lego Robotics will probably get mentioned. And of course, this is the new home of my imaginary race: Faridians.
In this board I would like to enjoy a nice environment. All of the ODBF rules apply. However, I would like to be a tad bit stricter on my own board, and rules do include some subjective items. These are not actual enforceable rules. You cannot be banned for doing something which is not allowed in my board, but is in the rest of ODBF. These are simply guidelines for acceptable conduct. My rules are as follows:
No excessive profanity: If somebody lets loose a "crap" or a "shit" once in a while I won't be too displeased. But please refrain from multiple uses of these words, or the use of words which are stronger in nature such as "damn" or... well, you get the idea... I reserve the right to modify posts which contain such words.
No inappropriate links: It is common custom, especially in the chat, to let somebody go for posting inappropriate content if they say "Click @ ur own risk" before posting a link to some inappropriate topic. This will not fly here. I will modify your post.
Be nice: We all have trouble being nice. I think I have created two threads on the topic myself, in part because I too forget to treat everyone as I would treat myself. This is not a very enforceable rul, so the most your going to get is a severe talking to.
No making fun of work: I expect some code will be posted here. Everybody makes really cruddy code sometimes, especially when they are starting. Don't make fun of mistakes, inefficient code, or messy code. The same holds true for pieces of writing or anything else a person may post. Constructive criticisms only please. Enforcement similar to the "Be nice" rule.
There are two rules of the ODBF which will not always apply. One is "no double posting". In order to upload files you need to make a post. If you want to upload more files then you may double, or even multi post. I also don't like modifying posts to announce new progress because nobody sees the new info. So double posting is fine if new information is available. I don't care, as long as the power is not misused. The other rule is no being off-topic. Sometimes I like to be off-topic. As long as it doesn't go over the top extreme I'm fine with a litlle off-topic. Especially if it is humorous.
Basically, just have fun, be nice, keep it PG (not powder game) rated. Thanks for reading my lengthy post!
