It would be nearly impossible to have users that are not of proper age kept out of the board. There are various websites such as Newgrounds that have warnings before entering mature pages. Perhaps we could have a warning page telling the user that they must be of proper age and asking them is they are so? There would be a 'Yes I am of age' where they will proceed, or a 'No, I am not of age' and will be directed back to the previous page. There is no way for sure we can truly keep out those underage, but at least we can make sure they were warned so we cannot get questioned... That is why I wanted it to be pass-protected.

In that case, why is it legal to prevent anyone under age 18 to watch a movie that is rated NC-17? Why is it legal to discriminate by gender with the dreaded draft in the United States? Why is it legal to require that a child reach 14 years of age before registering on sites in the World Wide Web, such as on our forums?
Maturity measure is indeed relative, but that apparently hasn't stopped legislators.
What will be a problem is coding to provide this benefit for those who chose to act in one way or another (i.e. those who portray maturity), such as removing censors without removing them from the rest of the forums, or finding a way to keep out those with certain warning levels. Also, will it really be worth it in the long run? We have had problems with the member categories and the Special board...

Kurai, Just about everything you posted, such as liabilities and the contents, has already been discussed. Please read.
Theres something you all fail to realise, i believe. The staff are in control. There are potential upsides to this whole thing, and if it turns out to be a failure, then what? We pull the plug. We can completely remove the board itself at ANY time.

Veers, I don't think it's worth going to the trouble of coding to restrict by warning levels, etc. My way is much, MUCH simpler. If we password-protect it, we can choose exactly who we want to let in, and it'll be hassle-free.
Edit: Well, almost hassle-free. The only real problem would be the censors.

Once more; Passwords are easily exchanged.

I've thought about it, and have decided that no, we should not add a 'Mature Board' for this very reason:
If you want to discuss such things that can be possibly offensive to others, here is not the place to do it. There are thousands of other sites that you can go to and talk about certain 'mature' subjects, but here the term maturity is defined as one who can handle a situation properly, excluding things such as topics that can be offensive to certain audiences. And that's my very point, if it is offensive to said audiences, then it shouldn't be put on the forum. We are to treat all the members as well as guests politically, ethnically, racially, sexually and religiously equal. There are no 'minorities' in this virtual space at this moment.
I fear that with the addition of a 'Mature Board' said moment will be vanished, and minorities will sprout up, causing users to have discriminatory thoughts towards other users, leading downhill from there. And along with your comment on how we can 'pull the plug' if something goes wrong, whose to say the damage hasn't already been done to the users offended? What image does that set on the staff and Dan-Ball Forums in general?

Not general intellectual content, either. Just debates.

Okay. So I don't think we have gotten anywhere near a verdict at this point.
Does anyone else have something to say, because if nothing's going to happen, i want it by decision, not abandonment.

I don't think it is worth having: no. If a majority disagrees with me, so be it, but that is where I officially stand.

It's is a growing problem we have here, that this site is spreading out farther and farther from Dan-Ball. It's becoming too general. 'Mature' topics just don't have a place here. Plus, I think it would be a waste of time anyway. If we created a mature board, I doubt anyone would really talk in it. We don't even have a lot of members as it is. It would be pointless and it would just die out.

I am also changing mine to a no.
Three high staff members said no. Is that enough to call it denied?

Make it Four, and yes.

That was much quicker than I expected, but I suppose that is enough to make the decision final. Through consensus, the Mature Board shall not be created.

While you all argue over who gets the last lock (which, for the nth time isn't funny and is annoying...), I'm going to trash this.
