Chapter Two: Summoning
Throughout the known multiverse, Summoning is often characterized as a pact with Satan or some other ridiculous accusation. It is, however, perfectly innocent. Or as innocent as ripping a creature from it's extra-dimensional home can be. Summoning is merely the use of existing channels between various dimensions to pull a being from one dimension to another. The subject is always a non-sentient, as the only way to summon a sentient being is through a Pact or Ritual. The extra-dimensional creature is subsequently bound to the summoner on it's arrival. There is no chance of the creature breaking free of these bonds, unless it is killed, or sent back to it's home plane. The creature will be imbued with just enough intelligence for it to understand verbal commands on the trip to the caster, which is removed as it leaves. The permanent binding of a summoned being is referred to as familiarizing, and the creature is called a familiar. A familiar is imbued with full sentience in return for it's loyalty, but it is free to give it up and leave if it feels mistreated. A familiar that does so will be stripped of it's sentience and sent back to it's home plane. Summoning is becoming increasingly rare, as most people mistake it for the invoking of a pact or ritual. Be wary when using Summoning Magic.
Chapter Three: Golems and Elemental
Golems and Elementals are two very often confused beings. There is a strong difference between them, which I will relate now. An elemental is a physical representation of a force of nature. A fire elemental is a majestic being formed of fire, and represents it's power both in form and personality. It would take major offence at being referred to as a golem and, as fire elementals are usually very volatile, would likely kill you. A golem on the other hand is almost totally mindless, and would likely not even notice or care that you called it an elemental. A golem is a being made of any of many different substances and imbues with limited intelligence. They can be made of anything, from clay to steel, to gold, to Jell-O, anything is possible with a golem. It is possible to summon an Elemental through use of a Ritual or pact, though trying to use a pact is not recommended.
Chapter Four: Enchanting
Enchanting is the practice of endowing an item with magical power. This usually consists of designating the spell one would like to be locked within the object’s being. When enchanting there are three types of basic enchantments. First, there is the constants enchantment, which means that the object is constantly casting the spell that it was endowed with. This is useful for healing rings and the such. Next, we have the enchantment known as the cast on use type enchantment. This enchantment is much easier to endow an object with, as it does not require very much energy. A cast on use enchantment only uses its power when used. This can constitute hitting an enemy with an enchanted sword, putting on an enchanted necklace, or waving a magic staff. The final and easiest of all enchantments would be the cast once type of enchant. This enchant is used almost exclusively on paper to create a magic scroll, as a cast on use enchant destroys its container after being used. Enchanted objects are hard to make, and should not be attempted except by higher level magi.
Chapter Five: Metaphysics
Metaphysical magic is by far the most dangerous and rewarding of all magic types. This magic is the draining of the barriers between dimensions to channel the raw energy necessary to keep each dimension from spilling over into the next. However, if to many magi drain this energy from these layers of protective energy it can cause dimensional run, and cause major damage to both involved dimensions. They will slowly mix together churning up the matter and energy of the dimensions and melding them together. After several trillion inter-dimensional years, the fiery pit of chaotic matter and energy flying around undeterred will slowly regain some power. The whole of the two involved dimensions will eventually have a sort of “Big Bang” type thing, thus reforming the whole of the two dimensions will be reformed into a bigger one. Metaphysical magic is not to be tampered with except by the most powerful of magi all gathered together.
