My school has tinypic, imageshack and most other image hosting places blocked. This would probably be the case for most people who are on a school network who autoblocks according to a list.
And as you probably know, the forum is mostly images.
So I can now see what it looks like for people who have image hosting sites blocked.
So here is my proclamation.
Host the images on our own server, just like we do for the codes!
It would help many people who have tinypic and things alike blocked.
Post what you think. (oh and my IP changes because I am going on teh forums through the school's internet)
So, Post what you think!

Hey, I've got a host, too! A mostly empty one. I'd doeet, but it wouldn't work for the custom images.

What do you mean by custom images?
Surely you can host all images for the forum? (I don't really care about custom avatars and sigs and stuff... And also for custom stars... (just download it and host it)
I mean, this would also give us a good reason to compress all our images!

I'm not sure what proxy the school uses, but I know they use their own private one, and just gets the list of sites from a black-list-list-of-sites site....
and if I use a proxy at school, It's like against the rules... XD

Yes, but we can all outsmart pretty much any on-site school computer expert.
I think its a good idea to host the forum parts on a private server, though i thought they already were. The same goes for custom stars.
However, see if you can find out what your school uses to block sites. Then you can probably find an image hoster that isn't blocked.
We could also start using rosasecta. Theres no way they've blocked rosasecta.

Ok, I'll start searching for any image hosting sites that are not blocked, when I get back to board, later today...

Yeah, i apologize for the inactivity but regrettably it will most likely continue for a little while more. I'll try to get on every once and a while though.
Anyways, imgur is the hosting site that pretty much all of reddit uses, and according to them it is more reliable and easy to use that imageshack.

Sorry for double post, but I can't see the modify image or link from here... Imgur does work, we should move most of our forum images there.
Thanks Greg!

Right...
Is anything being done?
I also want to repeat the EXCELLENT idea of moving things like signatures, Avatars, Badges, Custom Stars, etc. to OUR MEMBER CHRONOLOGIK'S excellent site Rosasecta.
Anyone?

sure... as long as we move it. because currently I can't see any images on the site that are hosted by tinypic. IF he refuses to host it then our back up will be imgur.
Please can someone do something about it, because I can't at all.
Listo? High Admins? GAs? anyone?
It would make the forum a much nicer place to be in. Please?

We need Chrono to respond first. And, you can access the images, just not change them to fit...
