Just a debatable topic on which one is more effective... That and I would like to know because I can't decide what to give my sniper...
In short, Quad arrow has double the damage of each arrow Oct and Oct has more arrows. I use Quad arrows, because it seems to me that to do the amount of damage done for the Quad, the Oct has to have every arrow hit, which doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

hm... mathematically speaking the "double damage" of the quad arrows only applies to the basic stats (8-12 vs. 4-6). if you spent e.g. 12 SPs on DEX, the values for the quad arrows are (11-16) and for the oct arrow (7-10) which is not half anymore... so the oct arrow gets more powerful on the whole after spending some SPs...
but on the downside, the oct arrows spread wider than the quad arrows so that more of them will go to waste...

So then even if they we're stronger, they'd end up missing a lot. Causing less damage to be done, right?

Well, mix it with a decent guide's card.

Well, mix it with a decent guide's card. Sure but then you're also losing your chance to give it a crit card, or a bullet card.

Oct arrow doesn't have less thanhalf of the Agi of he quad., therefore more damage points are shot. Oct arrow is also good at killing air for some reason, probably because of its nice clumping.

Well, it comes with two compo slots, right? Stick in a high-level Guide card and then throw in a Bullet's card as well, or a Crit card.

100% hit for oct arrow:
1. Guide's Card
2. On a big boss like Submarine Shrine or Submarine 4
Edit: @ above, I do bullet+crit cuz lots of arrows plus 90 damage per arrow once in a while. I have 4 snipers with the same combo so i pwn.

Well I think it would depend which you like better. Quad will hit more, but Oct has more arrows. So do you wanna attack alot of monsters at once, or just try to hit them as hard as you can.

AT gained from Dex is not a percentage, thus you gain more effect by wielding Oct Arrow. This balances out with the fact that it is rare for all 8 or more arrows to hit, so I find them to be pretty even.

No one even argues about whether quad or triple iron arrow is more efffective.

That may be because [and this is my opinion only], Triple Iron wins hands down, both for the higher damage and because the different firing method greatly increases the chance of all the arrows hitting.
