Soooooooo, I guess VB 2010 is free after all. And guess what else? So are Silverlight development tools. If you watch Netflix movies on your computer you already have Silverlight. You might have it anyway. But basically, it's kinda like Flash, except free. And now I am going to master the art... Java applets can do the same thing (especially if you import the Swing package, which automatically comes with a JDK download), and it is also cross platform.
One thing concerning Java applets is that they must be hosted and then inserted into the HTML of a site, which I'm sure all external entities must be. Is Silverlight inserted into a page in a similar manner?
