Your position in 1-Dimensional Chat Space is the same every time you post. When you post, you are at position x. So if you post at the same exact same time (theoretically impossible) as someone else, you are at the exact same position as that person.

Because it's held down by code that was put in by a human being.
Plus, it does fluctuate. Example: No posts= Overlapped by recent posts

No posts represent void, and the text fills whatever void has been placed between X and Y, where X was the post before Y, the most recent one
