...ffffFFFFFFFECK!!!
(yeah, like hell I'm gonna say ****. Oh >_>)
The living room computer's dead. It's been showing signs, and now the number of usable web-browsers in the house has been knocked down by one. My dad's laptop can run Java (I hope) but my SR saves are on the computer. So next update's gonna be hard for me to comment on unless the computer's fixed by Friday. And it's unlikely to be fixed by then. So, I am without Java. I can use the laptop (now situated in the living room) for basic net stuff like emails and to check other stuff. I'm up Diarrhoea Drive without a saddle otherwise.
Just needed to say all that...
>_< ALL MY FILES! ;-;

Yeah, there is no "bright side". My dad's laptop can't even run Java. So I'm gonna be missing out on new updates... The only "bright side" is that once I do get java back, I'll get a load of new content all at once.

The bright side is that now you have a really expensive paperweight!
Sorry about your computer, but there really isn't much you can do.

The odd thing is, the computer starts up fine, but the monitor shows nothing, even though it's plugged in and turned on. Nothing. So hopefully it won't be too problematic to fix, and that the memory will be fine....
[hover=Intentional spelling]UPDAET:[/hover] My dad decided to do the best thing in the world when it comes to computers, open the PC up, unplug everything, vacuum the dust out of fans and other crevices (not sure if that's correct) and plug everything back in. It worked, but the computer's still ill. On reinstalling FireFox, the Google Toolbar was there, already installed and with a popup asking about options. And if that weren't bad enough, the USBs claim to be having power surges with nothing plugged in. So now he's peeved. He's disconnected the computer from the Web, deleted the e-mail with the virus (it was from a friend, so he didn't think twice about opening it and the attachment '-.-) and is doing a thorough scan of the computer. Which means, if I'm lucky, I won't miss any DanBall updates! That all hinges on it working though :S
It's the motherboard, apparently. He's taken it to the local computer shop, and will most likely have a £70-sized-hole in his bank account tomorrow.
Oh sweet irony.
Today, the laptop falls ill. It'll start up and a cursor'll pop up, which can be moved around. Nothing else loads though. A cursor on a black screen. This is both good and bad. Good because I have the only web-browser. Bad because people will want to use it for their own vile needs (eBay, e-mail and other e-stuff).
Of course, no-one's gonna read this. I'm just typing for the helluvit.

I'd've thought the Wales bit in my location gave it away ¬,¬
Laptop's working now. Apparently there's a missing scvhost.exe file missing from the PC. So the lazy halfwit computer store owner is gonna move the /C contents to his 1TB hard drive (I'll pause for a moment so you can stop choking on your own drool) and will then reinstall XP and Service Packs 1-to-3. If that don't work, my dad says he'll probably buy a new tower and some other doohickeys.

ô_o
With a keyboard?
EDIT: The PC appears to be fixed. The cost? A ton of data loss and £70 down the sinkhole.
