Turn off all your lights and electronics! Earth hour is here from 8:30 to 9:30! Save Earth!

let me just make this clear:
IT DOESN'T MATTER
even if we turn off our appliances, lights, etc. it does nothing. the power plants will keep on producing 'green house gasses' for power. if the power isn't used, it will be stored for later use, or for anyone else who's using power. so turning something off at the END of the line doesn't do a thing.
but still. I suppose I could be supportive anyways and turn off the compy for an hour or so.

it does do a tiny bit because think if not many ppl are using power than they dont need to make ass much electricity. plus if you use less it helps

Oh bugger i forgot. Oh well. SB, it does matter. If that energy is stored, it is for later use, and we dont need as much energy for later, so some energy is saved. And if you shout 'it doesnt matter', think how some environmentalists will feel. Like in the tesco's advert, every little helps.

jeeze people, give me a break. I made one comment that had some thought behind it, and you're all against me. btw I did remember, and I turned off the things I could. I needed to use the computer at that time tho, and we still needed some lights to do work around the house. so yes, I was still being supportive.
but I'm telling you, it really does next to nothing to cause a change in the end of a line! if you want a big change, you'd have to come up with some sort of 'clean energy' that produces just as much, if not more, than a nuclear power plant. either that, or bribe the plants to shut down for an hour or two. but then you'd have lots of angry people who suddenly had blackouts for no apparent reason other than what some tree-hugger wanted. I'm all for protecting earth. I try to come up with ways we can make something to clean up the atmosphere, or something to gain more energy from while still being clean. I love plants and animals. but I love people too. I'm not just a straight up tree-hugger where I'd be willing to kill someone to protect 1 sunflower. I love plants and animals, so I'd want to protect them and keep them able to live their lives how they want/need to. but I also love people, so I'd want them to use the intelligence/sentience we've been given to build and expand and create. so sure, I'd be supportive of this. for the sake of animals and plants, I'd do this. but all I was saying when I said "IT DOESN'T MATTER" was that you can't expect the whole world to suddenly turn around and start going back to the way it was, just because everyone in the world turned off all power USING devices. because the power MAKING devices would still be chuggin' along. any power that isn't used is stored for later use if something drastic were to happen. so that there'd be a small blackout, but they'd quickly hook up the power to the stored electricity, and you'd be back online. but even while all that is happening, the power plant will STILL be functioning. it will STILL be making the "green house gasses" because just because your neighborhood had a black out, doesn't mean the rest of the area did.
all I'm saying, is to not freak out over a little tiny thing, and expect big results. do the little thing if it'll make you feel better, but don't expect to be some kind of hero for doing it.

All Earth hour does in bring us an hour away from certain doom......that's one hour of very embarrasing 'goodbyes' and kisses and hugs before we all get drowned....ah well, that's life death
