What do you think is the best class in SR? For me it's the Gladiator, he has astonishing damage, good weapons and decent range (compared to the boxer). I also think that the Priest is basically essential for most groups, but my vote goes to the Glad

[rant]This gives me a very hard time. I always preach that in SR, there is no best weapon/compo item. Same goes for class: there is no best class. Some are good at range, some are good at dishing raw damage; some are good at taking damage, some are good at support. While one votes for an individual class in this poll, one must keep in mind its value towards the entire team.
Really, all classes have their pros and cons, and I feel that a poll simply doesn't do them any justice. I hope no one looks at this poll as goes, "hey _______ is the best class, therefore I'm going to use 4 of that class in my group".
Also, there is a world of difference between "favourite class" and "best class", which gordon used interchangably. "Favourite" involves more personal preference, while "best" is completely statistical and indisputable. Hence for this poll, I will take that the question refers to "favourite class" - for there is no "best class", but there can be a "favourite class", which will differ from person to person, and thus validate the use of a poll in this situation.[/rant]
That being said, I shall proceed to vote.
I will not vote for Sniper because it is now officially the most boring class. Bow - Double Arrow - Triple Arow - Quad Arrow, can it get any more unoriginal?? There's only one way to play Sniper: all DEX, Quad Arrow + Bullet's + Crit's. Boring = unfavourite.
I will not vote for Priest. Even though the Priest is indispensible late game, it needs some tweaking - what use are the Ice/Thunder pencils when the main purpose is to provide auras?? If one wants to play a damage Priest, MAG should increase damage as well as range.
I would really like to vote for the remaining 3 classes, but I guess there can only be one vote...
I will not vote for Magician. Sorry Magician, even though you are highly versatile and incredibly useful, 30 DEX doesn't completely offset your sluggishness. Furthermore, damage is low, causing Magician to be sub-par against damage classes. As for support, slow doesn't do much at all, since it doesn't affect enemy firerate. Freeze doesn't affect Castle Boss either. Unfortunately this means that it's less fun playing with a class that doesn't do too well in damage or support.
The only reason why both melee classes are in my top 2 is because Inn healing is cheap.
Which one shall come in 1st?
Before V2.8 the "best melee class" vote would go to Boxer. Even though Gladiator has flashy attacks and can do melee AoE, I appreciate how the Onigiri's Card entices the usage of a Boxer within the party. The Boxer also does the most dps.
But now, I'm stuck. The Lightsaber is arguably overpowered, and it's flashy! The Lightsaber makes playing a Gladiator so much more interesting, seeing the damage flow out like water from a fountain. In contrast, the Needle Glove's needles is barely noticeable and a very common drop courtesy of White Stickmen.
Cheap inn costs add against Boxer, since Onigiri's Card is also less effective. While the Gladiator can use a little more range from Long Sword's Card and Long Sword, I will go out on a limb and say that because of its flashy attacks, its interesting AoE nature which produces multiple elements each attack which gives rise to arguably the flashies class in the game, the mystery behind the way the weapon works (how many damage numbers come out each swing?) and its flexibility (the only class which can finely tune minimum and maximum damage, toggle range (i.e. having a larger and more varied range than Boxer), and wide variety of elements), it becomes a very interesting class to play, perhaps even moreso than Boxer, whom I've always enjoyed.
We must remember that a large factor in this vote is the sustenance of interest and fun (hence my dissing of Sniper right at the start). To sum up, due to its ability to garner interest, my vote goes to...
the one and only...
Gladiator.

That was epic. I like how you made this huge rant about one class not necessarily being the best, then you chose the same class as crashgordon94. =P
I would have slightly more trouble picking one class, as I truly think they are all equally useful.

Well, I won't be able to top good rhetoric like that (reply #1), but I will go to justify my vote.
Hadn't it been for the Lightsaber, I would have disregarded all melee rangers (nice oxymoron) completely; however, ha55ii went over Geoge Lucas's head, so now I feel obligated to lend respect to the Gladiator. That is all I like about the Gladiator, however - nothing else. Melee just get hurt too easily, and even if there is a Priest in a group, I would much prefer a Poison Arrow from a distance to a Fire Sword in harm's way.
I would vote either for a Magician or a Sniper. Sorry Priest, I know how much you can do, but I can do without you more than without ranged rangers.
The Magician can be relatively slow, but with the right points in the right place, a Magician can really put those enemies to sleep: especially with a pair of Thunder Magicians. And of course, the Purple Boss Tree really deserves credit for making Thunder one of the best weapons for the Magician. I am also starting to respect Blizzard, although only on my secondary games in which I haven't squandered SP on MAG.
The dear Sniper can really get me out of a tight situation with that old, reliable Poison Arrow. Albeit having been introduced early in the game as a Class-3 weapon (assuming Class-1 means Standard Issue), it is probably one of the most powerful weapons the Sniper has. His AGI makes up for the paucity of speed in my Magicians, and my Magicians' MAG make up for the lack of lethal power in the Sniper. I cannot imagine a team without you.
And before I continue with my vote, let me say how much you have been helpful, Priest. I admit that I underestimated and ignored you when you first came out, but after realizing that you increase defense (you seemed to do nothing when I invested in you to experiment) of all in-range rangers, I find you hard to part with. Thank you, Priest.
Now for my vote, which I feel goes to the Magician. I just love all of that randomized power in four bolts of death when equipped with Bullet's Card and Topaz, which has helped me increase level faster then I would have.
AS BEWNT HAS WARNED, THIS IS ONLY A VOTE OF PREFERENCE. I AM NOT ADVISING ANYONE TO CHOOSE MAGICIAN, NOR AM I ADVISING ANYONE TO NOT CHOOSE MAGICIAN. THERE IS NO BEST CLASS OR TEAM!

I would usually be long-winded and rant about how each-class-is-great-but-I-like-this-class-is-the-best-for-me, the above long-winded posts really seem to have stolen my thunder personally. So I'm just going to go out on a limb and say that I choose the Sniper.

Yes, please. It's not like our rhetorical essays are part of a competition. We're not trying to out-do each other, we're just trying to explain our choices and pay respect to other classes. Don't worry... So, why the sniper? We would love to know why.

I don't know, I guess it's just the versatility. I mean, putting aside than the disappointing 1234 arrow count lately, it's just it feels good to know that I can use triple shot and be able to shoot almost anyone, anywhere. Or if I use the poison arrow makes for a quick kill for almost everybody, even fliers. Then there is the fire arrow, which is great for groups, and it even works underwater! Finally, there's the 1234 physical arrows. although they do disappoint with a lack of originality and a decrease in the demand for Bullets Cards, they do have a knack of always getting the monster I'm fighting with at least one arrow, which is especially good for the hills and the Lake. Then there is the Sniper himself, he is able to wield all of these crazy different "arrows of truth" XD, while the other guys all carry the same weapon, only flashier.
Take the gladiator; you gotta love him, but his weapons are the same thing with different colors.
Then there's the priest. He may be essential for the team, but the pencils have almost no distinction (aside from the long range pencil). Not to mention that the special abilities of each elemental pencil are suckish.
As for the boxer and the magician, I've only played with one for a limited amount of time, the other one not at all. To me the boxer seemed too much like a Kamikaze, even the gladiator had the advantage of sometimes not being hit with his sword in his hands. As for the magician, I only played with him until I got my membership on the Dan-Ball website. At the time, he was a big waste of time to use, he was slow, he missed a lot, especially with fliers and jumpers, and his upgrading gave him little to no health points for what it was worth.
It's all these reasons and little more, that I chose the sniper.
