No, because human brainpower has remained relatively stable while human INTELLIGENCE (knowledge and capacity are two separate things) has increased.

Yes, and that means that it doesn't matter how big the brain is, because the usage of our brain is only about at 10% at any given time. So, that means that almost anything, even dragons, can have a brain even 1/4 the size of ours and still be at about our intelligence. Besides, you never answered my question: Where did the idea that dragon's intelligence increase, then decrease suddenly come from?

The fact that whatever may have evolved from dragons is unintelligent.

Even though I don't believe in evolution, the same can be applied to us. According to some, we apparently evolved from unintelligent apes/monkeys/whatever other primate you can think of.

So what you're saying is that by the end of the next million years or so we're going to become unintelligent apes again?

Possibly, if intellegence is not required, which it looks like is going to happen. However, devolution is highly unlikly but possible. I personly say we are delaying the natural evolution process with technology that keep the weak alive. Still, we have no evidence dinos were stupid besides brain size, which doesn't really matter, considering squrisl and sperm whale brain size.

we do not devolve. if it is successful, natural selection will run it's course

And if it is not successful? Besides, what you were basically saying was that dragons devolved.

I'm saying if they were intelligent, they devolved. There is no such thing as devolution:
If you succeed, natural selection If you fail, extinction
Don't like the system? Too bad. Thats how life works.

Devolution: by pure chance the aleins kill all the ones with good genes and leave the ones with bad genes. Or intellegence might no longer be advantagous, so younatrul seletion gets rid of the smart ones, but not the brawny ones.
Natrul solution: asdfghs with good genes live to pass there genes. asdfgs with bad genes die. So natrul seletion is the process in which the bad genes get removed and good joined don't get removedfrom the gene pool.

natural selection is where the people with the good genes succeed in reproduction while the bad ones die out, so yes

Technically, as long as the genetic makeup of the organism allowed for successful reproduction before expiration (the disease could be fatal, but reproduction occurs first), then natural selection would allow the organism to live.
Heh, imagine a mutation where intellect decreased dramatically while reproduction was maintained that gets passed along generations...

problem is that because we have universally become intelligent, there is no way to devolve unless we go extinct or the unlikely multi-million-year project of having morons reproduce

Like I said, the aliens kill every one but those severly mentaly retarded.
WHo said the dragons had to devolve? They could just go exctint or leave earth....

That's what I've been saying this entire time!

Post by Sandmaster on Jan 28, 2009 18:35:03 GMT -5
so you say that they're dead. ok

What else would they be, except hiding, waiting for the right time.....

they wouldn't because it's completely impossible to keep an entire species secret while having enough to surely maintain survival regardless of inteeligence. either they're dead or they never existed in the first place

Actually, I was saying that I've been saying that second sentence the whole time. Besides, didn't you just contradict yourself on post 68? Also, (saying this goes against everything I believe in) maybe the dragons are really "aliens". Maybe they became intelligent to make rockets before we did along with some other mythical species and flew off around the time we began clacking rocks together. Maybe the human race as a whole are too conceded to even think that we are not the first to become intelligent.
Also, I say this again, I did not believe a word that I just typed there. But if you point that out, I'm going to need a dictionary to write out all the words I'll use to flame you. Seriously, if you're going to criticize this argument, leave my personal lack of belief out of it.

if they're aliens, they are not likely to look so similar to life here.
