Well, there goes the whole re-teaching thing. Perhaps he can still use the forums, but I personally doubt it...

Sad... you can at least show him the uploads that are cool for him to look at... ex. Pixel Art.

I was expecting to be able to re-teach, Though as soon as we got the X-ray photo's back I knew there was little hope.

Yeah, my fake cyrilic screwed up......wait....YoU DON"T NEED TO PRONOUNCE THAT?
Fortunatly there is reaserch going on about mind readering devices that can restore movement and speach. They can have it pick up all the signals, but actually making a mouth is hard. But they have made mind controloed mouses and monkeys that move arms....

But they have made mind controloed mouses and monkeys that move arms.... Yeah, the research in Brain-computer Interfaces is advancing almost every day. As to the topic question, I don't think you should try to re-teach him anything 'sides from family. If he's truly lost all memory, there's nothing to re-teach, and you'll end up trying to teach him how to be someone else; There's no way to be happy like that. Put it in perspective, if you woke up in a strange bed surrounded by strange people who insist you are someone you have no memory of, every new piece of information is potentially overwhelming. If his memory comes back, wonderful, but that can only happen on its own. I'm not a doctor--and don't do anything his doctors or psychologist say not to--but I'd say as he recovers simply show him things he used to be familiar with, but do not let on that the person you knew was familiar with them, and prepare yourself for soul-crushing disappointment.

I'm never going to atempt to climb a tree again..... True... I was never gonna do it in the first place :/ but still... Paralysis... damn, that's unlucky. So he can't move at all, or can he move his head? I'd really hate to be locked into my own body cause of paralysis. Send him the internet's best.

He's actually quite lucky. Considering that fall and the fact he fell headfirst, he could be dead. Of course, there are things that are worse than death...
However, let him get to know everything about his former life before putting him on the road to PG.

You'd rather have to sit inside the shell of your body with no memory of your family than die?

You'd rather have to sit inside the shell of your body with no memory of your family than die? I would. There's always a chance that the right technology will come along to crack the shell, or by sheer luck that memory clicks back into place. But death... Death is permanent.

Ozone, I never said I'd rather die. I am saying that with the fall height, he could be dead. He's lucky he's still alive, but he's suffering.
Also take into mind that technology doesn't always succeed. Take certain surgeries, for example. There is a chance that the person could die during the surgery.

being locked up and loosing all memory is a fate almost worse than death.
The only reason its better is the chance of recovery.

I've got some good news, today they did some work on BYL's neck and back the tried pushing the spine into place using sugery and other techniques. They said this saves 60% of paralyzed people, they also said you can tell if it's working within 1-5 days. Hopefully it will save BYL.

Well that's good. Of course, the 60%'s a statistic, and just shows your success rate. That said, better to hope for life than wish for death, right?

Um, this is confusing, and what i first thought was fact i am now unsure of...
Here:
To become paralyzed, certain points on your spinal cord must break apart. If this occurs at the neck, total paralysis is common.
AFAIK, there is only one way to repair nerves, and this happened in the case of some NFL player; they froze his spinal cord or something and reattached it. Even if I was wrong on the details, I don't think you can fix that.
You might know something I don't, I'm not good with this.
Either way, I hope he leads an enjoyable life even though he is gravely injured.

Yes, I'm sure the doctors know something you don't.
