I've been hearing some things lately... well actually I've been hearing things for quite a long time now, and it's a problem. A lot of people have been saying the forum is going downhill. The staff were deleted, the April Fools joke went bad, activity went down, molopoy happened. Some people might say it's only because we're recovering from a disaster. I think it has been going on for too long. Here's part of what might be causing it:
-Staff in chat setting a bad example -Less frequent Powder Game updates -Less advertising -Less posting on forums -Things like molopoy happening and disasters to the forum and almost nothing changing. Monotony is the word.
Only four things that pop into my head right now, and I'm guilty of some. We ought to step some of this stuff up, and a lot of it we can do instantly.
Also... in a sort of unrelated note... Why don't we get the big profile stars back?
Also Also... What are your ideas?

How on earth is that "sort of" unrelated?
Anyway, we all need to help. Individually, we can't do a whole lot, but together we can probably do something.
Anyone else up for holding Ha55ii's family hostage?

The amount of updates for the game is based on popularity AND the number of programmers. Listo is the only PG programmer as of now (I think).

Well that's unfortunate, because I think the less frequent PG updates keeps us less close to the game itself.
And to qwerty: It was "sort of" unrelated because I liked the big stars better and they would make the forum better in my opinion.(not that much better, but better. It was a drag when they took them away, so...)

As of now... anyone know how to program?
JK
That one is basically out of our control.

So let's focus on what we can control.

Listo made a code to keep the mini-profiles a certain size and forcing us to use the 10x10 pixel stars, because he wants the forum to have a set width. I personally liked the big stars, but i must say this forum format is neat.

I guess that leaves posting and advertising. As active as I am, posts are taken care of on my part. However, I ought to advertise...
I can't control updates, I can't control security risks, and I can't control chat conduct since I won't use an account.

I try to set a good example in chat, because that's just how I am at all times. As for the stuff that has happened recently, it was mostly due to inactive/defective staff. I think we should choose our staff more carefully from now on. Obviously, it's also due to the fact that
Well, I guess this would be a bad time to tell you I'm leaving soon, wouldn't it?

Well, I personally already know... but maybe now would be a good time to tell them and tell them why.
Anyway, I try to be as active as I can on the forums...

It defines me as a person and ensures that there is not as much evidence of my existence on the internet. It is a wonder that I went to these forums...
...but enough of that. Wisely chosen staff (not that we aren't...), frequent posting relatively high staff presence, and increased propaganda efforts will be good for the forums. Guest post disability would be beneficial to prevent spambots from spamming with guest accounts.

I have a suggestion: Demote inactive staff after a month unless they have specifically told someone the reason for their absence.

I think guest posting should stay. We should only disable it when spambots post too much. _____________________________________________________________________________
How would you define inactive? Checking in but not posting? Coming and chatting a bit? Posting?

as in, haven't logged in for over a month, like TSL.

Then I agree. The change wouldn't realy be that noticeable though.
I think listo taking away the chat was a good choice. The bad side was that there were chat-only members, who weren't acting bad.

In fact I'm vetry active and check the forums everyday
But really, for me, the only meaningful thing to do here is to monitor the element threads.
But the no. of requests are delining since the april fools
So I can do nothing
I think PG should be updated more often Cause (at least to me), the forum is meaningful only because it is related to PG
If there's no PG, the forum will become meaningless
Hassi should hire more programmers for PG, or make the updates more frequent.

I have a suggestion: Demote inactive staff after a month unless they have specifically told someone the reason for their absence. Demote them all the way to regular member, or only by one rank for every "unlogged" month, or some other method? In fact I'm vetry active and check the forums everyday But really, for me, the only meaningful thing to do here is to monitor the element threads. You are a Global Moderator, so you could also go around ensuring there are no spambots, checking to ensure that there aren't any shop transactions still pending (okay...I guess I do have that taken care of, although I am not present 24/7), answer questions, warn anyone breaking rules, etc.
