*I edited this post to reflect the development of v0.1* I'm developing a Firefox "extension" to save and load the SR saves, so you don't have to save the strings in notepad or similar anymore. Here is a screenshot: If you hit save, it asks for a name and then its put in the list. If you click on a save, its string will be pasted in the textfield. What delete does is obvious. The saves should be stored about as save as the one that gets automatically saved. Therefore I provide a backup button that dumps the internal data structure to the textfield. There is no restore yet, that will be implemented as needed. I could also store them on my server, that would mean you could also syncronize them with more than one computer. I don't know, if my cheap (free) webspace handles that properly though. If I use my server, I could also couple it with my savegame decoder. So you could get an auto generated name like "lv 29: priest, 2x mage, boxer, 33 levels done". The first beta version is out. You need greasemonkey installed. Then go here and install the script. Thats it, now you have the new save system.

That looks cool. You could be an SR updater.

I uploaded a first beta version (hopefully nobody tried the alpha, that was horrible).

Pretty cool. If I get around to playing SR again I'll do that.

I updated the script to v0.2. The main new feature is the auto name generation. The save gets send to my online save decoder and retrieves a name like "lv12 Priest, Gunner,Gunner,Gunner". I may add posibility to add a comment to the savename later. A second addition is it doesn't save the textfield, but it fetches the latest save from the applet. So you only have to hit save and not "get" first. Loading a save still works as clicking the entry and the hitting "set". To update you have to deinstall the old script (with the monkey in the right lower corner) and then install the new one.

Nope, its fully functional. Due to some weired occurances it stopped working for me today, so I already made a small update to it. But nobody is using it anyway... If you want to try it, just follow these instructions:

I hope you realise though that the reason that there is a code is so that it's a safer way of keeping the saved game, because the Web Browser can easily stuff up ; , and refresh all cookies and data typed in forms, so your saves could dissapear. Not such a great Idea on terms of keeping the save safe but, its very good to do things more smoother and easlily I'd rather coy and paste though.

It may be a tad bit useless, but it's still cool-looking. I can say to most SR players, "Hey, I have a cool SR FF add-on and you don't, even if it may not do much =P"

At least at one point I wrote that the data may get Belgium-ed up and if youre really worried, there is a "backup" button to copy the saves as text again. I don't use cookies to store the saves, but Greasemonkey has its own storage. I don't know, what is safer, but then again I never lost my cookies. If youre that worried, I can implement a server side backup of your saves. That would also mean you can syncronize your saves across multiple computers. BTW: If you just want a useless dan-ball extension, you can get this one

You must get pretty bored. Gotta do something with your time. I play video games and read web-comics.
