I have begun thinking recently. I think when someone does something wrong, a staff member must put that in the wrongdoer's post and give them the warning.. If not, then someone else should remove the warning and count it as invalid.
Some people get confused or unintentionally start flame wars, then get warnings without that warning being explained. All staf really put in their notes is 'Flaming' and leave it there.
This would actually help members understand what they did wrong and so staff can keep more of an eye on members.
Another idea would be when someone breaks a rule in a post, a link of such page should be put in an 'archive' on the staff bord, so we can make sure things don't get heated more easily(in case the thread goes down a little, we don't have to go page through page looking for it).

Maybe a new board for such links? That way it could be better organized for them.

I have recently created the Warning Archive Board for this explicit purpose. So, when an infraction is committed, a staff member will state the warning in the guilty post, PM the reason for warning to the convicted member, and make a link in the Warning Archive Board to the aforementioned guilty post? This sounds good.

What if the thread is deleted or moved?
That still sounds fine, though.
Board made, all that jazz, great.

Or mabey if there is a huge rule break, and there are a number of suspects, we could have a sort of cyber-court to collect evidence from members and give a verdict. Just saying.

That would be what that board is for: collecting evidence and storing it.

It could be an official 'examination of evidence'. Plus we get to wear the silly wigs.

I love the silly wigs...
Alright, but in what kind of situation would we do that?

What if the thread is deleted or moved? That still sounds fine, though. Board made, all that jazz, great. It may be necessary to quote instead of link, since quoting will allow us to observe the transgressing post. The link that automatically comes with it, if still valid, would allow us to see the post in context if necessary.

Whenever someone broke a rule which wasn't to do with posting, ie. trying to hack, and we don't know who did it. The people who were online at the time would be suspects.

people tend to have difficulty hacking into someone's account when they are logged onto theirs... In other words, the people online are actually less likely of being guilty.

On the other hand, what about those times a random community member comes in, posts as a guest something that is just a stupid, random mistake (nothing worth banning)?

I mean, they don't have an account to warn, it is unlikely to happen again, and in the long run it's just something to laugh about... should I make a topic about that?

In the case of Rebel guests, you can just either include special staff text (e.g. "May this user be forever condemned to the depths of TheListo's almighty wrath! -staffdisplaynamehere"), delete the post, or send the entire thread to the Trash Bin if appropriate. The Trash Bin option assumes that the entire thread is Rebel scum and not something like the PG Element Request board.
