I got so pissed at all those off topic post over at the stick ranger comments, so I coded a Firefox Greasemonkey userscript, that filters them so I don't have to see them. Its configurable, so you can type in words that the post has to contain so it gets filtered. Also you have the option to highlight the posts or hide them. Here is a screenshot of it in action, the grey colored posts would be removed if I hit hide: With the blue [-] you can hide the settings menu, so it has minimal impact on normal reading. Installation is as with my other extension: 1) Install the greasemonkey extension (if not already installed) 2) Restart firefox 3) Install this userscriptI know, its even more useless, but I was bored... You have to type in comma seperated filter words. The first entry on the screenshot means "19. [newline] 20." so it gets those "put your name on that list..." posts. *edit* Here already comes v2. Did you ever have the problem, that your comment didn't get posted and you lost all your typed text? Not anymore! Here comes "cache comment"(TM) technology. (It just stores your comment when you hit "post" and restores is on the next page load. So if your post doesn't get posted you get a second chance to think about why that happened.)

The second part of the post seems interesting. The comments hider though, that takes away all the fun of the comments D:

I can see that it has potential uses, like searching for comments without using the Ctrl-F feature, or removing lists. There is fun to be had seeing chaos unfold during a flame war, backwards (if you scroll downwards).
You appear to be quite good at coding Grease Monkey scripts.

Well, ... the "back" button of Opera does the same job ... /me

This is very nice, but wouldn't this be good for PG, too, and all the other dan-ball games, including Earth Editor? It isn't just a SR thing, it's a global thing. Request for thread movement. I'd do it myself, but I need another staff member to agree.

It is semi tested with PG and should work with every other page that has the exact same layout. I is only enabled on PG and SR though, because I didn't test it on the others. You can add other pages yourself if you want in the Greasemonkey userscript administration panel. If this thread gets moved and you want my answer to something, please write me a PM, as I'm not checking other boards regularly.

I released v0.3. New Feature: Remember the last read comment. It highlights the comment that was on top the last time you visited the comments page, so you can quickly see, what comments are new. You got the option to not highlight, but let it jump to the last comment. Here is a new screenshot: The second entry was the first comment the last time I visited. Its a lighter grey than the filtered comments. If you got a better idea for colors, just tell me. *edit* I forgot to put up the new script. It is fixed now. If you have greasemonkey installed, just click here to update the script.

I dunno where to move this, so it can stay here for now. You will know where if this is moved, there will be a thread linking to it.

I quickly updated to v0.4. 0.3 had a problem if you visit more than one dan-ball comments page, it would always remember the last comment for all pages, so if you visit SR, then PG and then SR again, at the last SR visit, it would look for the last read comment from PG. Now it stores the last read comment separately for every dan-ball page. Also I added a small note in the configuration dialog showing the version. *edit* Like always, get it here
