This forum is undeniably not very good looking. Some have said its 'boring" others have said its just plain ugly. Due to these comments and my own opinion, I have started a new test skin, that when done, will be added to the forum. I would greatly appreciate Comments and your Opinions. Just know that i haven't gotten everything done yet, so please do not say how the background is the same, how the banner is the same, and how the menu bar is ugly. I haven't gotten to those yet. All other comments are welcome. P.S. The test skin is here: odbftestskin.proboards.com/index.cgiP.P.S. The H/F was copied from this site, so all coding problems you notice are from this sites coding, not from the skin's codes.

Well, I wouldn't say this site is boring or ugly, but it does need a "makeover" if you will.
I for one, have fallen in love with your test skin, Ggoodie. You managed to give it a sleek, clean look, while still maintaining the signature "Dan-Ball Brown" color.
I don't know why, but it's something about that perfect brown color that makes this site feel cozy, even if its not flashy. I've been to several other forums, and they just don't give me that cozy warm feeling, no matter how cool-looking they are.
So I thank you for maintaining the brown color, Ggoodie. As for all the other flares and additions, I think you've done a masterful job!
I LOVE IT!!!

Who knows, maybe we can affiliate with that one forum we wanted to affiliate with that one time...

... pisoga?
It wasn't just the skin though. They said that we didn't seem to have enough active members to really benefit them, and that our forum was very plain. They said if we made the forum improve its look, that they would think about it, but i doubt that will get us it.
EDIT: I just looked at their forum, and it seems they've remodled. It is now butt ugly.

It's a good skin, but I think the dark brown clashes with the silver...

That seems to be the opposite of DR's opinion. He thinks the brown is pretty good, but the tan (orange as he refers to it) is the color that doesn't match. I can't take away any of the colors really. The brown and tan are the forum colors, which i was told to include in it, and the silver keeps it from looking bland, and believe me, without it, it does.

We do have to keep some kind of cardboard-y coloring, but we can also make skins themed for the games... A lot more work, though.

Unfortunately, that's one of the biggest design flaws you can make as a web designer, that ends up in what is known as a "Christmas Tree Site" to some extent. By throwing in random, unmatching graphics on different pages, gives the website a sense of inconsistency regarding the changing backgrounds. If you mean that we can make a different skin that you can chose by yourself, you shouldn't stray too far from the original design, as the H/F will interfere, the only real difference you can make is change the header image depending on the game.

Being as you made your own skin Ggoodie, what are we to do with the previously done test skin that I made.

There are only a few codes that would alter a skin very much. These are the cat splitter and the Mini-Profile code. All you would need to do is make head/base images for those and you would be fine.

Being as you made your own skin Ggoodie, what are we to do with the previously done test skin that I made. Yours will still be there, don't worry. But I liked Ggoodie's so much that I told him to ask Listo if we can make it the default skin. We'll see what Listo says.

That theme is GLORIOUS and we should install it right away. I mean, look at DAT LOGO.

Yeah, I like what you did to the Dan-Ball logo, Ggoodie. Made it gradient-ish.

I just put a half white, half gradient layer on top and put it on overlay. It took like 2 seconds.

Do you know how skins work? The H/F will not interfere with any skins, and you choose your own skin on your profile page. You can choose whatever, it can stray as far as it wants from the original design, and you don't have to worry about the inconsistency because it doesn't change randomly, you pick what you want and stay with it.

Heres the thing though. Every skin would need to have rounded corners if mine was added. Every skin would need profile gradients if mine was added. Thats why it would be better to just have a couple nice skins.

Yeah, I do agree with that, I was just bringing up an idea someone had last time we did this and corrected some misnomers. I don't actually support the idea.

Well, yeah, but I mean it looks MUCH better than before, despite the fact that it took barely any effort.
Lol, I'm clueless when it comes to graphics.
