Debate any news here. Talk about it or debate it (this includes politics, war, economy, or religion but it must be in the news.

The newscasters always seem to put a spin on all the stories.

So, you think the news stations are telling the people what their opinions have to be? The news stations are WAY more powerful than any politician. Politicians can do stuff, sure, but they have to be elected. News stations control people's opinion of those politicians, and as such control how people vote.

Well, somewhat. Still, that's only "somewhat."
Heh, this thread was made about things IN the news, and here we are, debating about the news themself!

Branching from the theory that the different news stations "balance" each other...
If, for a two-sided topic, one program was absolutely biased to one side and another program was absolutely biased to the opposite side, could an observer who impartially watched both programs receive the complete story of the controversial issue at hand?
Would this also be true for n-sided topics with (n nPr 2)-n different programs (i.e. all possible permutations of "x hates y" minus the number of permutations that represent "x hates itself")?

Depends on how convincing the news stations are, and how popular they are.

The problem is, each person tends to have their favorite news station.

If both news programs were on at different times then we'd be able to watch both of them. but they aren't and thats why i'm dividing CNN and Fox by zero

You see? You have to choose one, and that one news station doesn't just change your opinion, it makes it! Of course, you can't skip news altogether, otherwise you won't be able to make informed decisions at all!
