I've been thinking recently...
And i recently realised that the chat mod voting was open to the public, and as such, this means some things.
What i'm most worried about is easy; That it was just a popularity contest.
I know that for all intentions, it was a ligitimate vote, but i would concider the winners relatively popular people. Most of the voters (And there were only, like, four people, which just isn't conclusive) were not staff members (way to step up to the plate, gentlemen) and, as such, simply don't know who is and is not good at getting their job done.
Furthermore, i wish to point out the issue of Time Zones. Not everyone is always on, and so certain people can only be on certain times - which i doubt was taken into concideration. If done wrong, this could leave LARGE amounts of time where the chat is completely unmoderated (And when this happens, we've seen how bad things can get).
Personally, i would rather have a chat filled with mods that can moderate itself than an understaffed chat that is succeptable to the dark side of the internet (you're welcome, Veers XD)
Anyway, concidering our plans have not yet been enacted (And, given than Listo has selected all moderators thusfar, may not be enacted) the only way to fully and appropriately gauge who should and should not be a moderator is for the staff, primarily the high staff, to spend more than a vote evaluating a few things and decide who is cut out for the job, who isn't, and doing their best to remedy the Time-Zone thing.
Discuss?
