So for the past couple of months I have been talking of a future of PG I call "The Fall". It is basically a prediction saying that after 7.0, PG will decline in quality and viewers after swarms of noobs leaving complaining "It gets boring" which it probably will. I have received much critiscism on the topic and my image has been destroyed. I have brought this to the attention of the people of the ODBF to keep the idea alive and open for discussion. At first, my theory was extreme, stating that "PG will end in three months" but it has been changed in many ways to fit current ideas and it may continue to do so.
Please discuss and try to avoid calling me a lunatic. Really, it gets you no where.

why 7.0 (this seems like it would be more of a graduall thing)? Why the dramatic name(and uploads about it)? Even if there was a mass quiting of players, I woudn't really call it a fall, more of just, well, lots of people leaving, and if you did have to make that sound dramatic, why not call it an "exodus"(which i think means mass leaving)? Im not trying to be insulting, but rather question specific aspects, and possible improvements, as well as asking for an explanation. (101010base2might be the ultimate answer to these questions)

O I am not insulted. Actually, you make a good point. The name was mainly because back in its original stages, it described the complete destruction of PG. But now that I have changed it it WOULD be better as "SC's Exodus" but changing the name now would only confuse people. So The Fall it shall stay. Good point though.

Maybe you should call it The Cleansing because all the noobs will get bored and the dedicated players will remain.

Exactly. All it will do is get rid of the noobs who really didn't care about the game in the first place like we did. In my opinion, it'll make PG better off than it was before.

I completely disagree, the old noobs will leave of course, but there's nothing at all stopping even more noobs from joining, where do you think the noobs came from? Notdoppler has a link to PG (I think its like, the 4th top game or something) and so does randomssites in its top list . . . Noobs will continue to flood in, sure the quality will decline a lot, but it already has in the past year, so I don't see how "the fall" is any different from the current decline in quality . . .

But you're not just getting rid of the noobs. It works like this when you divide The Fall into stages:
1. Pre-Fall Stage (Completed) - Flame wars, advertisements, and other nonsense blackens the comment boards. Upload spaces also become scarcer.
2. The Fall (In progress) - Flame wars die down but comment board is left in ruins. Popularity of comment board decreases. Upload quantity remains while quality decreases. Noobs are leaving as upload spaces decrease even more ALONG WITH respected and good uploaders. This because they can't get an upload spot and because their say on the comment board is flushed out by the endless noob comments on the horizon.
3. Post-Fall Stage (TBA) - Activity on comment board increases in noobs. Valued uploaders and comments are barely visible. Time to time there will be one or two good uploaders but they will leave within months to a year.
And again I am not changing the name. Changing it now would confuse everybody and the idea would easily be lost. Of course a lot of people want that but I want this idea to live on.

Wow, you've really overdramatized this.
Not that that's a bad thing. I'm the kind of person who likes to overdramatize things. Good job.

No I haven't. It just seems when I hand you guys a really EASY explanation, no one understands it. So I have to go out of my way to explain it in depth and everyone says "WOW. Noob.". Do you not see the problem?!

Well, it seems that comment boards (the abused safeguards of democracies and republics) play a major role in determining what stage we are in. Fortunately, there is a haven for those who respect PG but get drowned out by the Community: we're in it.
Hopefully, through the ODBF, the integral part of Dan-Ball may continue to live on while the Community continues to infect the comment boards...

I still stand on my point that there is no fall, its just that the golden age is over and the community is now full of noobs . . . noobs will leave, more will come . . .

SpaghettiCat, this is why we here at the Dan-Ball Forums strive to be orderly and hand out a set of rules. Those who remain here, will most likely be the future revered uploaders of Powder Game. As time passes, new ways to deal with the situation will be brought amongst ourselves, and there will most likely be a said 'golden age' once again.
The whole thing about 'impending doom' for Powder Game is just silly. If you really feel that way then enjoy Powder Game while you can, and let us here deal with the matter...

First, why would they leave? In my opinion, PG is getting more interesting every update. And DarkRaine is right, more new people are always coming, and every day new people leave. And what you described there has already happened billions of times. Its happening now. And to me you assume that good uploaders only come from the past. Do you assume that every new member is an absoloute 'n00b'?

In my opinion, only decent uploaders will leave because they can't find an upload spot. Unless somethimng is done, Powder Game may be overrun by noobs.

Powder Game is ALREADY overrun by noobs (maybe not so much in the forum, though). I for one, am quite worried about PG, even if the fall isn't as drastic as people think spaghetticat says it will be. I have a great number of quality uploads, which will never be published anytime soon. There is always the possibility of closing Powder Game off from the masses for a while (as a desperate measure and last chance)

People have tried, but the link was replaced, and there are too many links to Dan-Ball anyway.

I agree with artcoursecannon. Powder Game is pretty much already overrun with noobs. The quality of the uploads currently being churned out is pathetic compared to that of the uploads during the "golden age".

Then I guess there really is no way of keeping a lower profile or becoming more exclusive. Isn't there a way we could just cool everything down for a little while?
