I'm writing a Book. I haven't named it yet, but i have decided to post the prolouge.
The year is 1938. And the world is a radically different place. The first Flying Machines in 1903 by the Wright Brothers created a bigger impact on the world than anyone had ever imagined.
Steam Power is still the dominant fuel source, though the refining of oil into diesel fuel has still found widespread usage.
Humanity, while still predominantly a ground-based society, has taken rapidly and aptly to the skies, and mankind's usage of the seas has hardly retracted. Airships have become tools of commerce, transportation, and war. While the automobile has received widespread usage, railways are still the predominant locomotion on the ground, and show no signs of backing down.
The world itself is a different place. Alaska and much of the western area modernly known as 'Canada' is owned by Russia. On the eastern coast of far-north America, the land is owned by France, England, and Germany, as is Iceland and parts of Greenland. Much of the far northern land is uncharted and unexplored, and primarily uninhabited.
Many of the islands west of South America are unexplored, or even uncharted, however there are several islands that are trading ports unowned by any government.
Much of the land south of the United States and South America remains largely unexplored. These are mainly lush, green lands where tribal groups live. Much of the east coast of South America is dotted with trading ports, where some of the most exotic herbs and spices are being exported by the shipload.
Europe remains largely unchanged, with England, France, and Germany being dominant powers, politically, economically, and militarily. Northern Ireland actually belongs to Ireland, and Belgium still makes the world's best chocolate.
England never made colonies in Africa until the 1890s, and currently holds several military and trade locations in Northern Africa.
A skilled Russian sniper once took out a man at a gathering. However, he accidentally hit the man next to the one he was aiming for. This man was Adolf Hitler, and for a large number of reasons, the first World War never happened, and the second one is not going to.
Russia is, to most people, mostly snow. But thats nothing new. Russia is a place all its own, and while it has many connections with the world, and is a large power, it is not a menacing one.
The ripples of technology across the world, which include major innovations in mechanical and electrical sciences have not been constrained to the western world. Even the eastern cultures, whom still hold very different from the western world, have been affected. Large parts of what would be western China belong to Japan, the currently most powerful nation in the region. China is still a major country, with many fine exports to offer and a considerable, though not exceptionally powerful, military.
New Zealand is a territory of Australia, which has declared its independence from England. While it is still connected with the world, its major role is as a joint for trade routes to completely circle the globe.
There is, however, trouble brewing in this world. The major military might is the Epsilon Alliance, a conjoined military might across the world. England, France, Germany, and the United States formed the alliance, which was sworn to protect the world in the face of any who would see ruin to the global way of life. It was formed predomiantly for economical reasons, forged from the trade routes that lattice the surface of the globe. Russia and Japan have since joined the alliance, and Australia has sworn its neutrality. With nearly all of the world's major countries in unification, the world was thought safe. However, this alliance may soon need to be called to action.
An as of yet unnamed coalition has chosen to rise against the accepted powers of the world. The attack came swift with attacks to destroy England's Parliament, the United States' White House, and the Moscow Kremlin all happening simultaneously. The attacks on Parliament and the White House were successfully stopped, but a hole was blown in one of the Fortress Walls of the Kremlin. A notable force has been assembled, and is believed to have the might to strike down the alliance. The countries of the Epsilion Alliance have been called to alert. Their enemy, however, is based out of no location. It is a roving army, an entire mobile military with unknown installations across the world.
The Royal Air Force has been called to action. Our story begins on the RAF Challenger.
The book has 7 Main characters. The whole universe and characters and world has my self poured into it, and has been born from my fantasies that were started by many little things.
I hope its a good book, and i'd like to know what you all think so far.
