Then I will switch it back. There are multiple people against it, and it is known that it is important for the "delete" button to actually remove the thread from public view. If we wanted to archive it, we would archive it.
For instance, say a staff member comes online and sees a post totally stuffed full of porn and profanity. So, they delete it. But, oh, wait, it just goes to the public archives because they forgot that the "delete" button no longer works.
It's called the "delete" button for a reason, ya know.

Well then we would be using the move button more then the delete button, which would get very confusing. Since there aren't many porn-stuffed posts anyway, i think that it would be more convenient to have the delete button go where we are going to be putting 99% of the threads.
As for the high amount of people you say are against it, i would like to ask, who?
(also, you cant change it back, i have the code hosted)

We only put the historically important threads in the archives, not ALL of them. Besides, we only really DELETE threads that deserve to be removed from public eye in the first place. You are looking at it from a view of all posts, I'm looking at it from a view of all DELETED posts.
Anyway, Chrono and I, for one. That, at least, makes more on our side than your side.

Ummm... if youve been reading this thread you would know: that the point of the archives would no longer be to house important threads, but to house all deleted threads that are okay for members to veiw.
and that everyone else who has posted here is on my side.

Everyone else who posted here is on the side of having archives. They made no comment on changing the trash code.
The point is, we can't have members accidentally leave threads up. The "delete" button is a "delete" button, not a "move" button. If the thread is deleted/archived in the first place, we obviously don't want the public to see it. We could just lock it, otherwise.

My comment:
Leave the delete code... I agree with qwerty's whole argument... delete is for delete.... If it is archivable move it to the archives....
And on a side note, why don't we code an archive button next to the delete one?

Fine, if the delete button is a delete button, then i will go remove the recycle code, because what it does is make the delete button move the thread to a designated board.

No, we keep the delete button, as we want to make sure accidentally deleted threads don't go away permanently on the first try. The last time we did this, many threads were deleted, as the people believed that the code was still in place. We will do nothing with the delete code. If you wanna add an archive code, then go ahead.

Okay, i will see if i can find a code to add another icon. If not, i will see if i can write one myself (which means if i cant after about 15 minutes i will most likely go to chrono, only to be shot down, then i will go to proboards support, only to 15 minutes later figure out how and go back and delete my post )

Once it's done, we can sort thought the archives. I see the public archives are already there. After we post a stickied message to let them know what it is for, we can disable posting there.

I can't write the code at all. We're gonna have to use the move button. (Not like its much harder though)
