As some of you may know, ive started a v2 skin that is now almost complete. What im wondering is, is if you all want to make it the v2 skin, and if not, why not. Also, ive added some new things to it that we still could add if you guys dont like the whole thing. Anyways, here it is: cobaltskin3.proboards.comEDIT: Also, since i haven't finished it yet, im still very open to suggestions, except "more red." I have yet to add the miniprofile, so check back later and i may have written it. If you see potential problems with it, please let me know.

It may be that your test forum isn't boggled down with all other sorts of H/F codes, but it seems that any part of your forum loads faster than similar parts of this forum. Hopefully, that skin in combination with our existing codes (which may require "cleaning and sorting" soon) will allow for faster loading than this version of ODBF does...
This is someone with two 1.60GHz processors and 2GB of random access memory using Firefox as the principal browser.
The different posts look nice, albeit bland with single-pixel-thick rectangles, and I can't tell what signatures look like without one to look at. If someone would create a signature in the test forum, that would be nice...
Center-aligned elements in mini-profiles, such as what we have, always seem better to me than left-aligned or right-aligned elements in mini-profiles.
A different default star would be more fitting for V.2., especially something that has the illusion of depth (i.e. "3D-ish").
I like the information center's symmetrical multi-column setup, and I now wonder whether we should keep the plain single-pixel rectangular borders rather than something more aesthetically pleasing. I really don't know what would be perfect for posts, the information center, and different categories, and I fear that is probably the most important problem I (or someone else) need to give shape to and solve.

Im remotely hosting all of the codes that will be set in stone and wont need to be changed (info center, banner mods, resize, etc...) So hopefully that will unclutter it abit
Like i said its not done... Im writing a new mini-profile code soon.
As for the borders, theres not a whole lost we can do to that... i thought it looked better then the default outline.
As for the stars... Should we keep the current ones, or should i make some to match the skin? I could do the orange-tan, brown, silver and gold or something...
EDIT: Also, im still waiting for pickle to get back to me about the nav tree, as you may notice its weirdly placed. I was hoping pickle could help me write a code to place it right under the pm info.

I think that, in going over to V2, the skin should have a different set of stars than our PG Player stars.

Quick note: By the the border where it says forum name, where it gives an amount of posts, there seems to be text bunched along with it. Namely, the word 'message board' and 'home.' You might want to fix that...
Further note: It seems to be doing this with every page. When viewing boards the function showing how many are viewing is crunched with other text...
The forum background looks rather dull. I suggest making it darker, but giving it a unique lighting effect such as what you did with the symbol and text imagery.
There is also the lack of custom images for the 'reply, new thread, etc.' buttons...
Overall, you have done an amazing job reshaping the forum appearance. I agree to go and apply this new 'v2' skin, just make sure that all or most of the bugs are worked out. Also, could perhaps make an outline of the Dan-Ball mascot to put it on the background of the forum? Just to make it feel more original, perhaps in the bottom-right corner?

hmm.. i think you might have to show me a screenie of that text bunching thing...
As for the icons, its not done yet
as for the background, i think thats a good idea.
Perhaps i will try and incorporate the mascot somewhere.

Remember, the info center is by no means set in stone. We gotta be able to edit it.
I like this skin, but I think the thread title should say what it's about. I didn't know what the heck the thread was talking about.
The key thing is, it loads much faster. This forum, no offense, takes forever to load due to the skin codes. If we can cut those down to size, we should be set.
Also... Ggoodie's a GA again? Hurrah!

We edit the info center all the time, or we are SUPPOSED to, anyway. Seriously. The text, at least. I refuse to accept the skin until that code, at least, is not hosted off-site.

The info center at the bottom? the one that shows the forum statistics? You mean the table at the top...
Anyways, i can add a javascript thing to make it so you can edit a message on the top of the info center, but keep the rest off-site.

Okay, but we don't have to host everything off-site all of a sudden. This method has been shown to be unreliable, particularly when the site the codes are hosted on goes down. We have all the headers and footers properly labeled and separated. They've worked fine so far.

and why do we have two topics discussing this new skin? I almost wanted to lock this...
anyways, I think it should be hosted on-site.... instead of off-site... we could probably keep a backup of it offsite...
but I don't want to split up all the codes and put them somewhere else... I think we should keep them together....
Just out of curiosity... how is it being used now? on or offsite?

We cant host on-site, we are using a free proboards. Now if we had our own URL and hosted the forum there, (You can do that with proboards) we could host them on-site. But until then, there is nothing wrong with the current setup. It clears the H/F and prevents codes from accidentally being edited or deleted.

yea, it would be much better...
Well if anyone here doesn't mind to pay for our own URL (without the .proboards) speak up now? (yea that is not happening anytime soon)
I don't mind the current setup either... (probably because I can't even edit the codes so it doesn't really matter to me)

Proboards charges 7.00 for every 50,000 page veiws if you host your forum. It uses a system called credits, where every 50,000 page veiws costs 1 credit. So basically, its 1 dollar a credit.
You can buy at minimum, 1 cedit, and at maximum, 140 credits.
