The following is a PM that Bobby Sue Poo sent me:
Also, there is a thread here concerning Saza waiting to be repromoted back to staff. It is suggested that you read it. Do we have enough room for either or both of them? If so, are we going to let either one or both become staff? I'm assuming we don't have space, but I figured their requests should be made known before saying we do or don't need more staff...

No. We dont remove a third of the staff just to hire more people.

Like we said, we will hire new staff when some resign, or we have a major increase in members.

Alright, I have notified BSP via PM that we are not currently looking for staff, nor will we until there are openings, and that we will directly or indirectly inform him when there are openings.

Maybe we should make a list, of members who would be next on the list of staff-ship.
like 1.) M4 2.) Saza 3.) Bobby Sue Poo
etc...

We gotta consider the old staff members, the ones lost in the mass demotion.

No, i think it would be better to hire people based on who would be good for staff. We rehired SS because he was staff, and he just went inactive.

Well, yeah, good point.
But then again, wouldn't that mean TSL wouldn't have become staff as quickly? Just kidding, please don't kill me, TSL.

Meh, I guess they just let me be staff again so easily because I had been here so long, and was really high up and trusted and whatnot.
But anyway, I agree with GGoodie that we shouldn't necessarily prioritize former staff members. Instead we should reevaluate all our choices and choose the best out of those.
Now, in a perfect world, the people who get chosen to be staff should be the best of all the members. Therefore, if that were the case, all the former staff members would get first priority. However--and I'm not pointing any fingers--looking back at how our staff make-up was before the mass demotion, to me that seems to have not been the case. To me, it seems we've made some not-so-good choices for staff in the past, and we should try to not make those mistakes again.

personally, i think one of our staff mistakes was hiring me (at first, not in general)
There were probably a bunch of more deserving members back then. I had only been on for a month. That makes me really think how much changes quite fast. People who are good for staff at one point, might not be even a few months later, and Vice Versa.

Exactly, and that's partly the reason why we should "reevaluate" people.

Also agreeing with TSL on that.
At the moment though we don't have enough active members to need any more staff...
but we should reevaluate *as Ron TSL said* the people on the list of next in line. We don't want to hire someone we think is perfect, but then goes on a spamming spree.

I also agree on the movement not to promote BSP to a staff positions, being of these two reasons:
1. As previously stated, there are not enough active members on the forum to be given promotions of anyone other than current staff. Perhaps when member activity gains more we will consider more promotions.
2. Also, there are those more fit for said promotion than BSP, including users M4 and Saza. Yet with this there comes a conflict: None of them have actually gone really out of their way even with the fact that they aren't staff to 'stand out from the crowd.' When I say this I mean that none of them have shown defining qualities other than activity that leads to the consideration of being promoted.
I have not seen BSP actually help other members when they are in need, nor do I notice many of his posts when going through threads, those of which I do see are normally not contributing too much.

Why are we even discussing this? We had it pretty much decided almost two weeks ago.

I just wanted to give my forethought on what we should do if the time comes where we are to grant more members staff positions.

No, i dont mean to single you out, i just mean the staff in general. It seems we are all in agreeance that no, he will not be given staff ship.

When I say this I mean that none of them have shown defining qualities other than activity that leads to the consideration of being promoted. And that is precisely the reason why I was in favor of firing them. Either way, it's going to be a very very very long time before our member count rises enough that we need more staff. Anyway, this thread has served its purpose.

This thread has been terminated until we get more members or fewer staff.
