I am getting very concerned about the staff body as a whole. As this thread involves some staff members, I am posting it in this board, which, as you know, only Listo can allow people to see. Besides, we (the SSODBF) should decide how to break the news to the rest of the staff.
I've been noticing some disagreements and some discontent on the forum lately. Every time I see Kurai or a few other staff members, it's when they are getting into arguments with each other.
I would like to stress equality on this forum, something I've been noticing a distinct lack of recently. We treat the old members and more well-liked members much better than the new or generally disliked ones. I've been guilty of this myself.
The rules (THE RULES, NOT someone's personal dislike for someone else) should be follow by everyone, and equally punishable to everyone. If a congressman were to run around naked outside, they would get into as much trouble (technically, not counting media) as a hobo that does the same.
Yes, this was triggered by the BoL incident. People other than BoL have done far, far worse, and gotten away with a week ban alone. The recent vote is not mentioned anywhere in the rules, and the time of the ban was only estimated. Besides that, we had already punished BoL for all the things he had done previously to that one-week ban, and he did not do very much since then. Certainly not enough to deserve a permanent ban, such as Kurai (the extremist in the situation) wanted. Even a two-month ban is ridiculous.
The main problem is that, as a whole, us staff members seem to think we can make up the rules as we go along. We assume that, provided over half the staff members dislike someone, we can just take a vote and kick that person off the island.
Suppose someone like, say, Ozone (merely an example) did the exact same thing. We wouldn't even bother making the poll.
Also, if anyone has any complaints about staff procedure (talking about FoxtrotZero here), we should probably let them know that they can alert us when we are preparing the thread, not after it has been completed.
On another note, what should we do about the chat(s)? Should we change the single ODBF chat into a small network of chats? I mean the ODBF neutral chat, ODBF staff chat, ODBF chat, ODBF hidden chat (here), ODBF spam chat (if we ever make one), etc.
