The problem with our current chat is that it is general. Little to no dan-ball discussion goes on there, which "turns off" many new users: They come into chat, ask a question, and then it gets overridden with a bunch of totally unrelated posts.
My suggestion is that we make this chat the general chat and make another chat the dan-ball chat. We can either leave this chat where it is and insert the dan-ball chat in the "games" category, or we can move this chat to the General Talk boards and make the new one global. I'm undecided as to which would be better, so far.

I agree.
That means, however, we need to advertise BOTH Chats - DB Games Chat and ODBF General Chat.
I also think the general chat, which will be the most active by far, needs to stay the main chat. Or we could put both.
WHOA. Horrible, Horrible Deja Vu.

Eh, we should advertise the DB chat and let people discover the ODBF chat on their own. It's not that hard; they just have to scroll down. After all, we want to attract dan-ball community members, and they aren't going to follow a link to a chat that doesn't call itself dan-ball-connected.

The only reason for a chat is instant, real-time communication. I somehow doubt that many of our members will frequent the Dan-Ball chat and keep it empty, except maybe to make unrelated posts every now and then. When new users come to see the Dan-Ball chat, they will see emptiness. They will see that another chat is bursting with activity. They will go to that chat and ask their questions. Some of our members will end up turning them away.
I like the intention, but I don't see how this would work out...

Several new members have been complaining that our chat isn't dan-ball-y enough.
