I just noticed MaaR using the following image as an avatar.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2f/Flag_of_Germany_1933.svg/800px-Flag_of_Germany_1933.svg.png
For those of you who do not know German history based off the URL, that would be the National Socialist German Workers' flag, swastika and all...
Is this a bannable offense? If so, how long of a ban should result? If not, what action should be taken?

Well... I'm not sure if it is bannable.... it might just be "fashionable" to pretend to be a nazi....
I've seen people do it... but then again.... I'm personally not sure what to do... maybe we should pm him saying that it might offend people and he should really remove it or risk a warning....
anyone else have any ideas?

That image? I'm posting it for easier access. There isn't anything specific against the rules to have the national socialist flag as an avatar, but it's still just plain wrong.

No, it's not. Is he acting anti-Semetic? No. Also, the swastica was originally Asian.

The swastika has no negative connotations, but when you rotate the swastika on a 45 degree angle, then it represents the nazis.

This is in no way against the rules unless he means it in a negative way. The symbol itself was good in india.

Actually, counterclockwise represents Hinduism while clockwise represents National Socialism. There IS a difference.
He did not put the image into any context, so the image could have meant anything, including hatred of non-Aryans. If he would have made a caption saying "The ones I hate the most" or something along those lines, I may have kept it up - granted, I still would have made this thread to discuss it, but I don't imagine I would have imagined that image as much of a threat as I did when I made this thread...

Technically Nazi's used it right and left facing, as did Hindus, Buddhists.
I don't think any punishment is needed as long as someone tells him not to use it since some may take it offensively. Then if he continues to use it should action be taken.

Nonetheless, he did use the actual Nazi flag, not just a swastika, but I don't think he used it in a negative context, so I don't think he deserves any punishment for it . . .

Well, the only thing I did was remove the avatar and say that further action was pending. He has since used a different avatar. If that's all that needed done, then it was already done...
