There was some MAJORLY inappropriate discussion on chat.
Violators include:
Nike Artik Ozone xXero
It majorly started with Artik, coming on and turning everything into something sexual. Ozone went along with it deeply. Nike continued it ravagely, and xXero really was just chiming along.
Phrases used include:
Wing-dang-doodle Wing-dang-doodle Dick Molopoy Niggerpenis (repeatedly) Banana Porn Banana Boner And More.
Nike actually POSTED Banana Porn (WTF?) Concidering it was fruit, it was okay, but i deleted it.
Anyway, noone was really insulted. But the phrases were used and it was just like Inappropriatefest 09.
And Artik SERIOUSLY needs his Modship revoked.

I'll send TheListo a PM, but whether he reads it or not is a problem I can't do anything about...
Wait, I think there may be something I can check, and if it goes well, I'll see if I am capable of using TheListo's chat account or not. If I can, I'll leave him a message indicating my action and change chat moderators. I'm assuming that he changed his name to mine for a certain reason, and not just to be random...
Did you get the situation under control, or is this still in progress (as of 4:32 FST)?

And Veers, if you do get access to TheListo's chat account, keep in mind we still need to give modship to the winners of the Chat Mod Voting, and revoke it from the losers.
Now, about this whole chat fiasco, I'd say Artik should have his warning level increased. As you know, he has been very problematic lately.

So, another 5% up?
Heh, Inapproprifest 09. We've had worse times than that.

Hmm...it doesn't seem like I had his chat information, so I'm unable to do anything. Sorry...

I also found this incident by Ryuu Archzero (Royokan) and The Shadow Bringer (well, it's still there (at least when I'm typing this)), to show how inappropriate chat can be sometimes.... Click at your own risk (well, its just some swearing): http://i37.[tinypic.com]/vfgnn.png

Anyway, if I were to increase Artik's warning level, would this be classified as Overuse of Swearing, or Sexual Harassment?

That would depend on if the the comments were directed at any person, group, or other figure being sexually persecuted at that time. I believe you could give the warning for bringing up an inappropriate topic into the chat...
Depending on if the ones who coincided with the discussion of such topic are members on the forum and whether the chat should be related to forum warning levels is if you should give the others a warning... To be fair, this hasn't been the first time said user: 'xxxNikexxx' (also known as 'EltonEyes' and now '.:V:.') has been acting against forum and chat policy. I'd suggest giving him a private message or something of the sort telling him we're watching his behavior at this time based on previous said action...

Well, actions in chat and actions in the forums are two different things, albeit very similar, and punishments for those actions should be restricted to where the offense took place (i.e. chat or forums). That is my particular philosophy concerning punishments, with some limited but important exceptions (e.g. plagiarization, threats against the forums, illegal content, etc.), although different staff might think differently about it...

I have always been a firm believer that offenses on chat should be punishable on the forums.

Chat and Forum punishments should only intertwine if the crime is very serious.

Chat is an extension of our Forum.
Anyway, the situation had really just died itself out. I was urging them, but they really just kind of stopped.

Chat is an extension of our Forum. Exactly my point. The chat should not be considered independent from the forums. Although it is separate from the site itself, it is not it's own entity. The whole reason for the chat's existence is to be nothing more than an easier method of communication between the forum members. Therefore, I believe offenses on chat should be punished on the forums.

That may be so, but punishing chat violators in the forums won't seem to discourage them from continuing their immature chat behavior unless the warning reaches 100% or a multiple of it, at which point they could be temporarily banned from the forums and ergo be unable to use chat.
If chat violators were punished in chat, they would be incapable of chatting until their sentence expired.

Actually, they can use chat just fine when banned from the forums. We would have to manually ban them from chat by finding a post of theirs.
Anyway, I just hope we don't do what Listo did that one time. Take away the chat and delete the embarrassing chat moments thread. It did nothing to relieve the immaturity.

I wasn't saying violators should only be punished on the forum. It's should be both the forums and the chat.

In other words, chat and forum punishments are tied together.
This is why I suggest the creation of a third chat: The spam chat. No moderation, located in the spam board footer. Possibly multicolored.

Spam chat is okay.
No moderation is bad.
This site should be kept clean. A 13 year old should be able to come here without being morally corrupted.
Plus a spam chat would relieve nothing, since people generally post inappropriate content for the sole purpose of annoying people.

Well, it would have SOME moderation. And, believe me, they don't. Most of them don't, anyway. They just want to release and talk in a way that they can't elsewhere. Which is where the spam chat comes in handy.

Me disagree. These people do it for attention, they want to be hated...
