Back from another of my long absences...

About 4 months ago there was a thread here about logic gates and how to create logic circits using C4 based triggers.

A few people came up with AND, OR and NOT gates and I remember I cobbled together a 'caculator' using C4 circits, using their principles.

Since then the METAL update has come along and has allowed creations like "maybe tomorrow's" excellent '10 number caculator'. But to make more complex circits we need AND and NOT gates (OR gates are trivial)

Anyone done this or got any idears about how to do this???

This is a large problem thst has puzzled the great inventors of PG for much time now. C4 Logic gates do not really seem possible, and C4/Clone wires are obsolete. However the new Metal circuts have their issues. But they have special properties that could make them work.

Cuckooman4 already demonstrated a good example of a thunder-metal "And" Gate. This is the same pretty reliable mechanism used in MTs Impressive 10 number calculator (that i am still yet to revise a slight bit...

Search "Logic Gates" and three things will come up. one was already demonstrated. Logic Gates 1.0 will demonstrate some basic, slightly explosive, and unreliable methods with the old C4 one-use wires.

And Logic Gates (the one that is capatalized and plural, mind you) demonstrates several reliable one-use C-4 Gates that work upon filling in certain circuts. The and gate is not what we are describing because it requires two breakers to be set to "On", and not two sources of electrical input.

An issue to be thought of is that C4 wiring and Metal wiring each have their ups and downs. While it is not dificult to switch from metal wiring to C4-Clone wiring, no compact, reliable way (To my knowledge) exists that goes from C4-Clone to Metal. Furthermore, while Thunder freely traverses metal, the reuseable C4-Clone wires are imperfect:

Clone does not operate on a timed basis. It will not replicate a certain amount of time after it can. It will simply replicate as soon as it pleases. Within PG this has hampered many creations and makes C4-Clone wiring faulty. Metal allows thunder anytime, while a conciderable period of time my need to be waited for a C4 wire to replicate. The tinest break will stop the fuse and therefor the signal might not go through as soon as it is needed to.

And i tried to make a mechanisim for that contest, using a fan dot and a cog wheel to dictate when thunder would and would not be allowed through. But it was flawed and the speed at which thunder was allowed to pass varied. I then thought of the idea of completely SWARMING a metal with a continuous line of thunder, but that worked. Not. Its posible, but not logically in a small reliable unit.

I made some AND, OR, and NOT Circuts here that i made. The NOT circut is based after Cuckoomans and the AND circut is based after the ones used in MTs Calc. Tricky Buggers. There is also some explanation.

thats a clever invention! either one goes through, but two cancel each other out! how compact can you make that?

And it only worked for me once i used Pendras space remover: prendra.googlepages.com/spaceremover

... Logic gates are the complex manipulation of C4, C4/Clone, or Thunder/Metal wires for complex things to do based on what switches are "Activated" or not.

So an "OR" gate allows current through if either input has current. an "And" gate only allows current if both inputs are on. A NOT gate only allows current if one is off and another is on.

The not gate has two forms. One is that if one is on, it will work if the other one is NOT. Cuckoomans invention means that there is output if either of them are on, however no current goes out if both are on.

For those who don't understand, logic gates work like this:

You have some input things, which you can set to either on (electricity) or off (no electricity) - then it goes through the logic gate (this term I believe comes from programming, but it's logic operator, not gate) and the output will be either on or off.

If you have two inputs and it's AND, then both have to be on for the output to be on. Meaning A AND B must be on for the output to be on.

If A is the first one and B is the second one and X is the output and 0 is off and 1 is on,

AND : if A = 1 AND B = 1 then X = 1
OR : if A = 1 OR B = 1 then X = 1
NOT : (only one input) if A = 0 then X = 1

You can make more complictated things with combinations of them.

And if it's too compact, it won't work. (that's why that one doesn't work) Since it's random, the point where the two flows of electricity meet will go back and forth, and you need to have enough space.

How exactly do you DO the and gates?

Anyway, I prefer the C-4 wiring more. (Hence my Multi-faucet Series)

I made the ones that use cancelling out, but they've probably already been done before, they're pretty simple.

And yeah, I expected that, I'm too good at math so I think things are simple and then everyone else gets confused.

(I don't quite see what's so confusing about four dimensions and parabolas and solving for multiple variables and memorizing pi to 76 digits... just kidding. I can see how that stuff's confusing. But it's simple for me.

I understand now. Although my understanding of powder game's physics isn't good enough to make these, I could easily implement the into my own P.O.W.D.E.R. game, which ,in turn, would provide a greater feeling of powder in it.
