Well technically if each of my gates takes up 12x12 pixels and there are 300x400 pixels on the whole PG field we should be able to fit more then 800 of my gates on to it. Accounting for the display, the merger of far away gates, and buttons ( I would say 800 / 2) we could still fit nearly 400 gates + display + buttons. Although when enclosed in blocks and surrounded by so much I will agree they do look rely big. Don't forget the DOT limit. Also, if it's static gates, a NOT could be simply something that stops the other output, when input goes through, and when it doesn't, it lets the other output go on. I did something like this on my half adder on MineCraft /indev/, using static gates as well. If you have Minecraft /indev/ I could show you.

Now what you recommend is what i have been trying to do. However this does not seem possible at the moment. My NOT gate, at the moment, drops mercury in the event that it receives an input which prevents the laser generated inside of the gate from continuing to the end of the gate.
Assuredly this can be done simply ignoring the 1 input, but seeing as 0 must give you 1 I do not see how a NOT gate can function without having a continues 1 output before receiving any input whatsoever.
Which leads to the Nothing ---> 1 output; for static gates, this is a major problem.
Unfortunately I do not play Minecraft, however a demonstration in PG would be appreciated, as it seems NOT gates are hard to come by.

I dunno how to make it with PG, but I am pretty sure that in minecraft it is possible cause I made an instant signal passer(OR gate is a bit slow, AND is fast, NOT is fast) but it is a one time use.

I dont get all the x in y out and stuff.

in = input - either user puts in thunder, or comes from a chain reaction or something out = output - output is what you get at the end, according to the inputs, I believe you talk about the images at the start, they are talking about the axis of the laser movement, X is horizontal, Y is vertical, XY is diagonal. XY input means the input comes in a diagonal direction, and so on.

MF, please no flaming. Or spam. That sorta counts as both.

Spam, I doubt it. And flaming, certainly not. It was all well intentioned, though it did come off as a little rude didn't it? I didn't mean for that...

MF, I hope you aren't under the impression that you invented cancellation tubes. (I call them cancellation tubes so as not to confuse them with normal tubes which exist to keep laser speeds constant)

I was not the first to invent tubes. By my reckoning, tubes have been independently invented at least 3 times. I invented tubes before I even knew about this Forum. I built several devices, and started advertising my uploads on the PG comment board. I was then invited here by liamuk in the Powder Game comment board. Of course, I have no solid proof that I independently invented tubes. I could have come to this site long before I joined, but you will have to trust me. I do however take credit for the 9 by 2 tube area and reverse blocking beam standards, which ensure reliability.

More then inventing things it is important to actually implementing them in more complex circuits.I wouldn't be surprised if there were more then 15 different designs for "memory" but tubes were good enough to do something with it... pretty sure I did something with them... full adder?... with glass NOT and splitter...
Btw you could do something interesting in here... And is it this Friday for PG disappointment? :F

Something interesting? I have built an 8 bit RAM, writable, re-writable, and addressable. But I gave up there. The RAM conveniently munched up half of the screen. There is no more we can do unless our logic becomes smaller. This is why I advocate for a unified tech element request. If there is some project you would like me to engage in I would gladly do so. But what is left?

Well even if we have good technology element, we still cut off by 1 per month PG update and 1 per year technology element? XD

I have found a nearly constant output!(about as constant as using the mouse and holding it down) and it is not very big, just a bit bigger than a ball(it contains a virus ball) the code for it will be at the end of this post so if you just want that part just skip there.
I think I should say that 「The Virus Ball」 by (TvT) 75vote 2010/04/24 23:09 caused me to find how. his upload has many virus balls on top of laser, and oddly enough, the laser directly under the balls do(es) not disappear! it just stays there!
so what I did(im not sure why) was put metal under the middle of the 3 laser dots, and it started shooting laser diagonally! Unfortunatly I found that it will make the ball fall off if it is there at load, but I decided to reflect the laser to go to the sides, instead of the sides and up.
The ball no longer fell off!
it continually outputs laser in 2 directions!
here is the code:
0030000000100*02102*01*03*06*05*01w00q00004000v00u01u0B*0200Du0F00Cv0E10E00Ku0J*0Hv0Lu0G*0Bv0Q00N10M*0Pu0O*0Su0X00I10V*0Y10b00au0R00e00Uu0fv0T*0W10dv0j*0cu0iu0Zv0m00g*0ku0o10lu0pu0v10u10xu0tu0z00h00**0s010*0n01200r*13*11*17*16*1901501Bv0qv1Du0wu0.*1801Cu1F014v1E10y01Ku1J*1Hv1Lu1G*1Av1Q01N11M*1Pu1O*1Su1X01I11V*1Y11b01au1R01e01Uu1fv1T*1W11dv1j*1cu1iu1Zv1m01g*1ku1o11lu1pu1v11u11xu1tu1z01h01**1s020*1n02201r*23*21*27*26*2902502Bv1qv2Du1wu1.*2802Cu2F024v2E11y02Ku2J*2Hv2Lu0Bn0DT00o0ST2T000w00.0Jp2S000p00e00L0Bp00T0By2X10Mp0DX0Bt00X2f.0Jq2i000r2k000z2gu0Br2np2p.2r000s2ip0G.0Jt2Zm03u2G*2Av2Q02N12M*2Pu2O*31u3602I134*3713A039u3003D033u3Ev32*3513Cv3I*3Bu3Hu38v3L03F*3Ju3N13Ku3Ou3U13T13Wu3Su3Y033*0710413c*3bw0A0pF3
I think this is pretty cool! with this and mercury splitter we can do much more!
WE HAVE A ONE GATE! JUST ADD A TUBE AND ITS A NOT!
EDIT: made a not, the tub is probably longer than it needs to be, but I havent seen it fail when its like this. to see it with no input just fill in the hole for the input laser. (that is not of course how it would be used, just an easy way to demonstrate it)

Funnily enough, as I was watching it after I released the balls, one of the lasers hit a virus ball just right, and it was trapped in midair while surrounded by a laser giving off more laser. Unfortunately, before I could study it in detail, another ball hit it and upset it, releasing the rest of the laser. Funny, how those two react.

was it surrounded on all sides? because I think that is instable, it will eventually collapse.(just 3 on the bottom works better I think)

Can you implement this NOT in a circuit?

Laser source is really cool, but 1 dot of fire in any place, any source of wind and ball go out of balance and it destroys everything in the way.
