Love, its an interesting thing.
Why does love exist? What is love? When does love occur? How does love occur? What is the purpose of love?
Discuss!

Love:
An effect in the mind that indicates whether the organism should reproduce with whoever else they love.
Or a sense of trust (loving one's family, one's friends, etc.)

lol. less than a flash, but I know that this was made after my arguments with love.
but I'm gonna try to not be religious in this debate at first. after a while I'll get religious for comparison. For now, though, I'm gonna play SM's game. Logic. (and btw, saying 'end of story' in the second post of a DEBATE isn't...good...? idk. it's unethical)
Love, as I see it through logic, is a combination of: caring for another person and wanting the best for them, going through steps that eventually lead to reproduction, having fun with another person whether it be through competition to sharing jokes, and the basis for all conscious interaction between 2 or more living things.

What I'm saying is the direct cause and result, and you're forming a gradient from one to the other, in a way.
And if I log in, I will be inclined to post on every topic. I don't have much time to do that.

Well dont worry, nb or sb will be here in a flash. You automatically come to the conclusion that I would bring religion into the answer to this thread? I was going to ask what type of love was meant? Romantic? Friendly? Orgasmic? As for romantic and friendly love, I would have to agree with Mr. Smith from Matrix: Revolutions that love is the pettiest justification of human existence that exists. That doesn't mean that I don't like them, however; I would still be willing to experience friendly/trustworthy love. As for orgasmic love, it is the safeguard to the continued existence of any sexual (in contrast to asexual) species. And if I log in, I will be inclined to post on every topic. I don't have much time to do that. Too late: you already are, even as a guest...

of course, we've been leaving out an important issue in the case of Love. Lust. in logical terms, Lust is what SM and DM and many others have been saying what "sexual" love is. It's just straight, wanting to reproduce. so that form of "love" is Love without the backing of "friendly" love. It doesn't involve wanting the best for that person, it's only to reproduce. So the instinct to bread, among mankind anyways, is Lust. not Love. The Greeks had 5 different ways to say Love, each with their own distinct meaning of Love. - Friendly
- Brotherly (family)
- Sexual (which without Friendly is Lust)
- Loyal/Patriotic (to leaders and Gods)
- Profession (what you like to do)
so there are other ways to love while still being "black and white" that aren't just being Reproductive or Trusting. (although those are included)

Alright, we will ignore lust when considering love.
Friendly, brotherly, patriotic, and professional...interesting. I don't presume you know what the Greek terms themselves are, do you? I'm quite curious to know...

Scientifically, love is the activation of hormones carried by enzymes/catalysts. But in humanity love is affection to someone or caring or trust. Beauty on the other hand is a whole different definition.

I actually agree with sc there. Listo, (you probably wont be on here, but this could go to anyone) there is one definition, it is just what the context (big word!)is of the question asked. Wait...is that gramatically correct?

[offtopic]Despite reading wierd, I think that is still grammatically correct. I'm not entirely sure, though...[/offtopic]
I would have to say that Love can have several definitions, depending upon the context...
