I think we all need to get together and finally start to solve this "noob" problem. I believe we are all tackling this problem the wrong way! We can't solve anything by yelling at those who don't care about the future of PG. A big first step to actually getting something done is creating a better delete/vote system for Powder Game. This will get rid of atleast a few types of noob uploads such as "voting world records" and "save the puppy" uploads. So come on, let's hear some ideas! I can't do this alone!

I'm not quite sure how you would deal with such a problem. I mean, noob uploads are quite annoying, but how can one make adecision that's fair to all PG players...

I do agree that there needs to be a change. I think a decision can be made, and frankly I don't care if it's fair to the "save the whale" uploaders. I think voting should be replaced by ranking, so you give it 1-5 stars. That way it doesn't matter if someone gets 1000 votes, if they're all 3 stars, then they get 3/5...
I also think that everyone who puts "Vote" in their upload is ridiculous. The objective of powder game has shifted from that of who uploads the coolest BS, to who is able to deliver the word "Vote" in the most fanciful way.

And I personally think that deleting something that someone wanted to upload is not fair. If someone wanted to post a "Save a ______" upload, then let them do that. It wouldn't be fair if people could just delete it just because it was horrible.

I agree that the 1-5 ranking would help. Also, a very small once of thought will be put into a user's mind whenever they decide to rate an upload.
Let's also think about the pros and cons for having a limited amount of votes per day/week/etc, shall we?

I remember the "good or bat" voting system. Now that was old dan ball.
Anywho, I agree. a 1-5 rating system would be good. Instead of "delete", put a "report" button.

Unforunately, the possibilty of a Vote/Delete System revamp is quite unlikely. The current system, though flawed, is convenient.

What do you think the effects would be if there were twice as many times to upload, but half as many uploads each time (giving the same number of uploads per day)?
I'm not exactly sure IF it could change anything. I'm just brainstorming.

How would that address the problems with the Vote/Delete system?

If someone's going to upload something useless where the highlight if their upload is Vote, then that upload does not have a place. It gets old seeing some nice pixel art or some cool chain reaction upload, with less votes than two players and a laser, with the text "save the boy". I was also implying there being more of a report system, rather than one person just popping up and deleting. A literal delete button would never work.

Where is there to report? What would you say?
*imagining one's report* "Um, I really don't like this one upload, so, yeah..."

What I meant to say is WHAT is there to report?

What I meant to say is WHAT is there to report? Profanity (which I've seen), and uploads that pressure people into voting (such as voting records or "vote if you are cool). You should also have to say why if should be reported so people don't just click report to annoy everyone.

Who would the uploads be reported to? There would have to be a group of impartial, sensible people...

I wouldn't mind "reviewing" uploads or whatever you would want to call it ( ). Anyways I'm sure people would love to get rid of stupid uploads.

I would obviously love to challenge some of the noobish uploads on PG, but you can't really limit or restrict one's right to upload their creation...

You should only be allowed to do that if the upload is undeniably offensive or threatening.

If you feed a stray dog, it will come back to you for more. If you ignore it the first time, you'll feel bad, but your porblem will be out of the way.

So your saying that the problem of senseless uploads should be dealt with head-on in order to eliminate it entirely, correct?
...because when you put it that way, the reviewing of PG uploads sounds like a tangible solution.
