So your saying that the problem of senseless uploads should be dealt with head-on in order to eliminate it entirely, correct? ...because when you put it that way, the reviewing of PG uploads sounds like a tangible solution. Basically, yes. Although most other options suggested will have a somewhat overall positive effect on PG in enough time. By the way, I noticed that I have posted almost every other time in this thread. I guess I am just trying to get more people talkinig about it.

C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER.
Dan-ball has nowhere near a perfect vote system. If a "vote if you hate homwerk" upload gets more than a pixel art, it's flawed, and that's the truth.
Mattaroni, ya missed me. Nice job messaging everyone, but skipping one with their name in the welcome table.
Reviewing PG uploads would work, and would be effective, but you couldn't have any power-hungry mods, or abusive mods, or anything like that. It would only take a few minutes every 12 hours for someone to review them, too.

You would have to find an extremely unbiased person to review the uploads (which could be near impossible to find)...

Or there could just be someone getting payed to do it. There wouldn't really have to be a really unbiased person...
Anyways a report upload button would work better, and then there would just be a staff person who looked at the reported uploads to see if there really was anything wrong with them

Basically the same thing, but they only review the reported uploads.

I think a report button system would work better than a filtering system.

Well from a web coding point of view, its a simple case of having either a mysql table or a flat file to store the reports in, from a flat file a button will send a server side request to write a line saying which submission you want reviewed, and probably the URL too, and also who reported it. In a mysql version it would work the same except inserted into a table row instead of a file line.

Is there a way to change the noobs' perspective and make them less noobish without yelling at them? 'Cuz that only makes them defensive, in which case they would get all noobs to unite and make matters worse.
Perhaps our friend psychology can help us.

Maybe we should simply try to point out the differences between their uploads and the uploads from PG's "Golden Age".

Chrono, I wasn't talking about programming. I was talking about getting Ha55ii to add it. I'd contact him myself, but I don't have his email or other contact info.

why dont we just make a plugin for different browsers that you'd send the get set code to a php script, that would write a file for it somewhere(idk where) with the code, and add to another file the name of it and the time. something like this
<?php $uloadname=$_POST["uloadname"]; $uloadcode=$_POST["code"]; $isbeingused=$_POST["on"]; if($isbeingused==42){ $daat3=date("m/d/y"); $codefile="$uloadname-on-$daat3" $codefile=stripslashes($codefile); if(file_exists($codefile)){ echo "the file exists no two uploads of the same name can be made on the same day" }else{ $1stf=fopen("uploadlist.html, 'a') or die("Can't open file"); //$stringData = "$uloadname on $daat3\n"; $stringData="<a href="$codefile.txt">$codefile</a>"; fwrite($1stf, $stringData); fclose($1stf); $2ndf=fopen("$codefile.txt",'w') or die("Can't open file"); fwrite($2ndf,$uloadcode); fclose($2ndf); } echo "thank you for uploading" } } ?>
guess how many tutorials i patched this together from. and no it wast from an upload file tutorial at all, (one was a file write etc tut though)

Guys, if you don't thinks mods could be reliabble enough, get a system where reported things are put onto a database for the mods to look at. Once an upload got a percentage of the overall moderators voting for it's deletion, it would automatically be removed. We could also have a system with warning levels like on this forum where after you have enough banned uploads your account is IP banned for a while. How about it?
